Re: losing reverb in mono

Yeah...if I just use a mono return and pan it to the center, the verb stays intact when mono'ing the mix, but then you lose the dimension of a stereo verb. I guess it's a trade off. I have the same problem with recording acoustic in stereo...it always sounds like crap in mono no matter what I do; fl...

losing reverb in mono

I've noticed when I listen to my mixes in mono that the reverb almost disappears. Is this a common problem with stereo verb? What's the best solution?

Thanks,

pair of mint Avalon vt737sp's

I have 2 mint Avalon 737sp's for sale. The units are in perfect, brand new condition with all manuals and original packing/boxes. The units are about a year old and have hardly been used (maybe 15 hours recording time)and only powered up when recording. Save yourself a few hundred bucks over orderin...

Re: Need suggestions for studio drum kit

I'm glad I started this thread... you guys have been a great help. Esp. Chetatkinsdiet, thanks for all the links and vintage info! As far as alt country/americana goes, styles and drum sounds are all over the map. Even though I call my stuff alt country I don't like sloppy, busted and broken drum so...

Re: Need suggestions for studio drum kit

I'm honing in on the Yamaha SC natural finish...undecided on the floor tom model though.

I read reviews on the pacific CX and lots of complaints about crappy quality control and stripped mounts.

Thanks,

Re: Need suggestions for studio drum kit

A gazillion ways to go...wish I was a drummer so I could make a educated decision! I really don't have time to hunt down a vintage kit as I need to pick up a kit by the end of the year for the write off. BTW...just got a HEDD192 and AD16-X. I just love tax time anymore! So a new kit is what I'm afte...

Re: Patchbays...solder or punchdown?

OK...looks like I'll go punchdown. Makes the most sense for my rig. I need to make up about 60 cables with M/F XLR's on the ends.

What's a good wire to use for this application? Gepco, Mogami, star quad are a few I've looked at. Anything pre made out there worth looking at?

Thanks,

Need suggestions for studio drum kit

I need to pick up a drum kit this week for the studio and was hoping to get some feedback here... We do alot of alt country/rock americana material I don't need to go ultra hi end, just need a great sounding kit for around a grand to 1500. I was looking at the: Mapex pro M maple Yamaha stage custom ...

Patchbays...solder or punchdown?

My new years res. this year is to quit crawling behind my desk, so I'm looking at patchbays. I've seen that the ADC punchdown bays look pretty slick and fast to wire. Is the punchdown just as good as a solder joint? Also, I need to think about how I want to layout the panel...Do most configurations ...

Re: M-Audio C-03 format converter?

OK I'm confused...

I thought ADAT optical and Toslink were the same thing.

This is what I want to do:

Cranesong HEDD/192 AES out > M-Audio C-03 > ADAT optical in Mackie HDR24/96

M-Audio C-03 format converter?

Has anyone used the M-Audio C-03 format converter?
I need an inexpensive way to go from AES to Adat lightpipe (toslink)

This looks like the ticket for 150 bucks.

Thanks,

Re: New! Tube Trap DIY project website

The choice of fabric won't effect the trap, but I'd stay with a commercial type coarse woven fabric. I think it only needs to be fireproof if you have a commercial facility and local code requires it. I purchased the pipe insulation at Means co. in Boise. Their info is at the bottom of the dyi page....

Re: New! Tube Trap DIY project website

Hey, these look pretty cool. Have you done any RTA tests with them in your room? How much does a finished trap weigh? These would be prefect to mount in the peak of my ceiling in my live room, but if they're too heavy it wont happen (as easily). How did you mount them in the corners? thanks, mike N...
