Tascam TSR-8 Problems

Hey guys, long time! I have a TSR 8 that is having some issues. In FF and RW the stop button doesn't work. The tape is moving all around the path. I suspect tension is the problem. Another problem I have is I cannot find a Service manual anywhere on the internet. I'd rather not pay some dude on Ebay...

Midi does not travel great distances well. You can get drop after 20' or so.

I have a J-Fet Sytek. It is great, but I rarely use it for vocals. Clinical may actually be a good word to describe it.

I have a RE10 and 2 635A's and love them all. Also you can keep a look out for the PL series. Exact same mics as the RE but in a darker finish.

The Master link (Ours anyway) can do 24 bit wave, not sure about 88.2K though. Editing with one is a nightmare. You have to scrub through the audio linearly, applying EQ, normalization, and compression takes a really long time to process as does burning a CD. I can truly say the Masterlink is one of...

I still says WHY? You buy the 2 Delta 1010 and the Cubase for the same moneys as the Protools and get all the good drum sounds and the good guitars too. Same price.
Plus you no talk to asshole at Digi. Fuck that guy.

It is good idea if staying at the home and making the hair fall out by pulling it is what you desire but not making the recording.

If freelance engineer you charge the more moneys for the expensive mikrofons and other organs like Melotron or Optigon because they break them. If you are engineer you are allowed to break your mikrofons and the organs so you do not give more charge to them.

With the basement and recording with no money the mikrofon preamplifiers is the more rigorous choice for the decision. With the low noise on the floor you can better utilize the mikrofons be they both types. You will be making the better sounds with both.

For using the ribbon mikrofon the Sytek is the preamp I am using. It has low noise on the floor and much gaining and the channels 3 and 4 have the softer sound. Is good for the over the head mikrophons on the drum sets and on the lady voice.

I like the AT 4047 a bit off center getting some tone from the front head of the BD. That's my first try location, but I like the Soundelux U195. I rarely use the "fat" selection. Just straight up normal response and maybe padded down. I use this mic on kick bass in the Clava and it sound the good ...

HA! I had one of those too. I left it on top of the dumpster when I moved. I would guess you could yank the phaser out, it should have 2 power lines (the voltage of which you can measure with multi meter) a pos in and a pos out and most likely got ground from physical anchoring or it may have wires....

Another reason PT does that, if you are using a PC, is PT has a lot of problems using Dual Core Intel Processors. If you turn off one core in the system BIOS the interrupt message usually goes away. I am finished with LE versions of PT. It is the only DAW I have ever had problems just getting to run...

this may only apply to certain tape echos but isnt there a mod to make them work with 8 track carts? I seem to remember seeing that a while back. I'm not sure about that. The cart they use is about 1/2 the size of an 8 trk. You would have to put in completely different mechanics. I have had 3 of th...
