Christ, this forum is turning into a total waste of time, with clowns like you who have no personality or sense of humor, and just continually post about the same stupid shit, like which 50 dollar preamp with the exact same components is better, or which ribbon mic manufactured in the exact same chi...

Avoid Windows Media Center like the plague. It was preinstalled on my HP, and there was a bunch of bundled crap that you couldn't take off. I couldn't even load up my music apps -- Wavelab, Sonar. I got an OEM copy of XP home and it worked fine. I've have a Toshiba (laptop), an HP Desktop, and a Del...

I did it with the multi-track demo's that came with Sonar 5 and Cubase SX 1 -- I think they had maybe 10 tracks at the most. I imagine there could be a sound difference if you're syncing multiple devices -- I can't really say, because I've never used the 001. I've heard recordings done on them, and ...

I tried this with my apogee rosetta's and my layla 24 a while back. I really thought I'd hear a difference if I used the apogee's clock. So I hooked up a BNC cable for the wordclock sync, and a cable for the spdif, and I let her go. I couldn't hear any difference between the layla's internal clock a...

You could probably find better converters out there. It was manufactured about 7 years ago. I haven't compared them, but I just bought the emu 1616m, and it sounds good enough for me (plus it has a higher sampling rate). Maybe I'll just keep it. Most of my music gear, I'm pretty happy with. The only...

Dude, take the mic stand out of your butt and simmer down. To be honest, at a certain point in this forum, I decided to be the biggest asshole possible, because a couple of time's I asked for help (I admit I don't know everything), and I got some really smart-ass, ungracious replies. If there's anyt...

The frontier designs Tranzport goes pretty far. Mine works through a couple of walls -- not quite 50 feet. You could probably extend the distance as far as a USB cable can go, and then some. Everybody loves them. It's one of the cooler things I own.

Actually, I wouldn't mind. Go ahead and make an offer. I don't really want to check my private messages, though, because I have a message there, presumably from that cgarges dude for calling him a controlling dick and not congragulating him on his marriage. He's not that bad of a guy, though, or he ...

Getting back to gear, though. I don't really have that much to complain about. Because for the most part I get alot of pleasure from my music stuff, and it constitutes a pretty small fragment of the waste that will eventually go into a giant landfill. And it's alot less of a hassle than the some of ...

Yeah, I'm sorry I'm not the pollyanna I should be. I should probably agree with everybody when they say how much they like some worthless garbage like Bruce Springsteen or Paul McCartney's latest bullshit album. I'd probably be happier. Fuck, if I liked flopping down on the couch and listening to th...

I read in the paper about a local nonprofit school that has a recording program. Maybe I'll start there. I talked to the lady at the library and they said they're always taking books. Actually my gear isn't really taking up that much space. Aside from that desk, I can rack up most of the stuff I own...

Let's see what i have. I have an mbox that I never use with Pro Tools Le 6.4. It was actually pretty cool for what it was. Works fine. A DAW workstation desk that I got at Guitar Center on one of those once-in-a-lifetime deals. I think I paid 150 for it or something, and it's nicer than one's that c...

Anyway, getting back on topic. I've never sold anything on e-bay, and I don't really feel like selling my stuff for pennies on the dollar at Scum Center. I wonder what I should do with the stuff I don't want -- maybe donate it at a local school? I've got this DAW workstation desk that I'm not going ...

Yeah -- you got me. I plagiarized Carlin. But he expressed what I've been thinking for the last 10 years, and it get's pretty fucking deep in alot of ways. Everywhere you look the "thingliness" of life just attacks you. My last place, I lived in a condo, surrounded by strip malls, with three freeway...

I have too much stuff

So I'm about to move again (5th time in the last 10 years). Each time, I just move all this crap, and get more crap, and then I have to move it all, worry about it getting stolen/insurance, not being able to leave without one of my good buddies driving by and taking it. Instead of figuring out which...
