I've recently rediscovered the C414 B-ULS. It has more weight than let's say a KSM 141 and sounds more open than a M201 and it's sound is more balanced than a Beta98. I like all of the mics mentioned above, I've just neglected the 414 too often. I've also used M88s, AT4050s or MD441s for snare drum ...

I have always been happy with 456 on my TSR-8 and my MS-16. Now that it's not avaible anymore I had to switch over to RMGI 911 and can't complain so far. You'll have to re-bias your machine though. I think it runs a bit smoother on the tape heads but I've also heard people's complaints about bad bat...

I've been using my Shure KSM137 a lot, lately. It's probably my favorite snare mic. I also like Beyerdynamic M201s, M88s and AKG C451s. Shure Beta98s have a nice snap and a lot of top end. Sometimes that's just what you want. I also think that the Beat87 is a pretty decent snare mic. I haven't tried...

Which Crown power amps sound best?
Hi, at the moment I'm in the market for a power amp to drive our Quested HQ210 outfield monitors. I'm looking for an amp in the 2x350-500 @ 8Ohms region. Ideally I'd like to buy a Bryston, but a new one is out of the budget and the used market is fairly small here in Germany. I'm not rich and can't ...

How much does a Brauner Phantom C cost in the states? You can get one for 1K here in Germany. It's a very open and modern sounding mic. Not "modern" in harsh way, it has a very pleasend and transparent top end. Great for glossy pop voices. The old GT MD1 is very different. I'd say it's more of a roc...

Oktava just anounced a tube body for their MK-012 capsules at Musik Messe: http://www.oktava-online.com . Wow, I hope it sounds good and the price is right. I've four different capsules for the MK-012 body and a tube body would be sweet. Their fig.8 stereo mic with the Mk012 capsules and their inte...
