I don't think USB drives have adequate speed, but as I haven't used one, I can't verify this. The FW drives are fairly popular with folks on the Digidesign user forum, but be sure to get one with the Oxford 911 chipset. Don't use the Firewire ports on the 002 and 002R for a hard drive. Digidesign re...

Quicksilver upgrades?

Al, I saw your post stating that you upgraded your G4 Quicksilver Mac. I have a dual GHz Quicksilver and Digi002 that I'd like to use with PTLEv7. Digidesign says its "not recommended", and sure enough, the Quicksilver is totally unstable. I'm wondering if you have been able to use v7 of PTLE and wh...

Thanks for the post. Wavelab looks very nice, but overkill for my needs. I failed to point out that I'm looking for software that works on a Mac, and the Steinberg stuff is PC. Thanks anyway!

cheers,
Dave

Joe,

Thanks for the "batch" tip! That will be a time saver.

You can even do batch exports that way. [ apple>shift>K ]

I don't know if these "live CDs" sold at shows have song breaks, or if they are just one long audio track. Do the real time CD recorders allow for a way to insert track IDs? Do they allow a way to eliminate audio between tracks? BTW, I see that Roixo Toast includes a program called "SpinDoctor" that...

Matt, Yes, if I want to commit to Audiosuite processing, that would be faster than bouncing to disc. Good thinking. I'd just like a way to quickly edit out song regions, maybe apply a simple EQ and then batch process all the tunes into tracks to burn to a CD. When my bands do full night gigs, its ti...

Matt, Thanks for that tip! Its a great idea and would save a lot of time in the cases when I would need processing. I usually do some EQ, but I'll remember this next time I can get away without it. I wonder why ProTools doesn't allow an option to bounce to disc in "computer time" instead of "real ti...

Darjama, Thanks for the prompt reply. I have read about the new Minidisc recorders that can upload files, and think that would be a logical next step. Probably some of the other new recorders off that option, too. For now I am hoping to find software that will take care of the editing process, as th...

quick mixes of rehearsals to CD - which software?

I want to take band rehearsal recordings and gigs (from a Minidisc) and QUICKLY create CDs with the songs split up as separate tracks. Currently, I play back the audio from my minidisc recorder into PTLE, mark the audio reqions, bounce the regions, one at a time, to disc and burn CDs. My minidisc re...

Re: music stores / live music venues in Portland, OR?

Thanks for all the replies. It was a big help. I didn't make it to Super Digital, but hit a lot of music stores and venues. There was the NW Music Fest this weekend, and consequently a lot of good entertainment to choose from.

thanks,

Dave

Re: Internships Available in Seattle

Still looking for interns? I have been using ProTools for 4+ years (Digi 001 and 002) in my personal studio, and have a fair amount studio experience (engineering, performing, producing). If you are looking for new interns, or know of other opportunities, please shoot me an email or call me. thanks,...

music stores / live music venues in Portland, OR?

I'll be in Portland this weekend (Sept 9, 10, 11), and wonder if anyone can recommend some good music stores (vintage guitars, boutique amp dealear, proaudio) and live venues to check out. I see there is a NW Music Festival in town, so I'll check out some of that. Any band picks, or venues of note? ...

Re: chuck prophet and the mission express seek bass player

Damn, I wish you were based out of Seattle. I'd do that gig for free! Good luck finding a bassist (but I don't think it will be too hard). You're music is grossly under appreciated!
