Cubase LE on OS 10.5
My 10.3.9-running Powerbook is refusing to power up, so I was hoping to just install Cubase LE 1.07 on my newer MacBook Pro running OS 10.5, but it looks like the install CD has a known issue of not installing on 10.4 and beyond. There appears to have been a user-created patch called Cubase-Correcto...

Fresh Air Interview
This of course doesn't focus soley on recording, but it's a pretty cool interview and has some recording information regarding Get Behind Me Satan, which I have been listening to non-stop for 6 or 8 weeks now. I think it's an amazing record. http://icdweb.cc.purdue.edu/%7Egcerbus/WhiteStripes/Jack%2...

Pixel revolt
John Vanderslice's Pixel Revolt is my favorite recording of the year by a long, long ways. I have been listening nonstop since it came out and I still crave it at least every other day.

Re: prince rumours
So, this thread sent me on a shopping spree and a trip through my iPod to recreate the amazing 90 minute Prince mix tape I had in high school. Many of his best cuts are rare, b-sides, etc. Anyway, his productivity is amazing. I mean I knew, but seeing it all in one place... Check out this discograph...

Re: something i read in tapeop
>Journalism 101, man. Never make that assumption. I've got to disagree with this. Magazines as specific as TapeOp need to make assumptions like this based on their audience. Otherwise a large percentage of readers would be continually parsing through details they already know to get to the interesti...

Nah, YHF is BORING. There's like one hook on the entire record...
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot = "Revolution #9"
From the sounds of the tunes played on All Things Considered a few days ago, the next album will be only slightly less dull.

Re: TV on the Radio
I think these guys are amazing. I haven't really thought it through, but I might just kill to be able to sing like this guy. The EP was amazing. The LP sounds equally great (from two listens anyway). The integration of the doo wop on some of the new tracks is really hypnotic (on "Poppy," I think) un...

Re: what makes lyrics good? / learning to write such good ly
RE: Pollard, I would argue that his best lyrics really do "mean" something, and that he just goes about conveying that meaning in a less than straight forward way. Smothered In Hugs, for example, is an amazingly sad song. Game Of Pricks is a great song about a relationship. And both these songs leav...
