Any help?
but in my case the sounds are coming mostly from a powerbook.
Reason has a pretty convincing mellotron sound if i recall correctly.

it's interesting how often behringer comes up as a topic for debate. their products are such a mixed bag that there's kinda like this love/hate thing going on with them among people who are into recording. true, most of the people who really like their stuff are amatures like myself (although i woul...

Believe it or not you can hear pan adjustments even in mono. somebody has mentioned this before (maybe you, drumsound). i'm no theoretician, so could you explain this? is it akin to making a very slight fader adjustment? thanks! I can't get into the technical details, cause I'm just not that smart!...

Re: kick drumsounds that are awesome

Another one that I love is on Isis' Oceanic...very cool. hey, i know that song. the drums do sound like they're in a nice room on that. good band, to boot. hey, nobody's mentioned "...and justice for all" yet?? heh heh, that was a joke. well, i guess it's distinctive. but then again, distinctive is...

cheap stuff

my only advice is don't buy anything in haste. be patient, check out and compare as many different pieces of gear as your patience and timeframe will allow! For cheap pres, i have an Presonus Blue Tube (well, i got the older model which is cosmetically different from the newer one for super cheap ri...

I have the TranzPort. While I haven't put it to the test distance-wise, I can tell you for sure that it's a bad-ass little control surface. A great way to spend $200. i just hire an illegal immigrant to press record. much cheaper, and my laundry has never been so immaculate. but seriously, the tran...

finish recording for my EP, mix and get it mastered. find some other musicians to play with. get health insurance. apply and get accepted to grad school. end my temporary residency at my parents' house.

if it's a head/cabinet amp setup, keep the head in the contol room and the cab in the live room. that way you can use a short cable from the guitar to the amp, and a longer speaker cable.

or, if it's a combo, maybe use it to drive a cabinet in the other room.

I say spend your money elsewhere. FWIW, I have two MC012 mics. One I bought new and one I got dirt cheap used. They sound so close that I was amazed. Maybe I got lucky, but here's what I think: If you like the way your mics sound the - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You can do the Dorsey mod, whi...

Shit dude. Smokin! You dog, you got to work with Mike Patton. What is that sound at 2:31? Is that DestroyFX Buffer Override? It works... who's idea was that? Eric It isnt the buffer override plug. It is a zillion little glitchy edits by me. It is the guitar. The band wanted soemthing to "go wrong" ...

maybe a mic with a fig. 8 pattern? position it so that the pattern is perpendicular to the monitor and have half of the vocalists on either side of the mic. i've never tried this, so this is just a guess.

cool.

thank you for the feedback. i see the logic behind using an overhead as well as another mic out front to get some of the kick. and that's a good point that kyle made, that getting a good sound is paramount to getting a stereo image. bleed-through and a mono drum sound probably will work great in thi...

i used to think the difference was that the MCs were sold as a matched stereo pair or something like they came with a couple different capsules (omni, etc.) but i guess i'm wrong. Oktava mics of the same model really seem to vary quite a bit. i have mk-012s where one is much hotter and punchier than...
