Re: Dave Osgood - Solo
Yeah, I'd probably say the same for me also. I got to play bass on those tracks too, which was fun!

Re: Dave Osgood - Solo
Most of the electric is his strat which has an onboard preamp, the stratoblaster I think it's called. An SG and g&l tele make a few appearances. We would track guitar live with the drums (and bass as well for 3 songs). Actually there's one song where we did piano and drums initially. One of my favor...

Dave Osgood - Solo
Hi. An album I co-produced with a very talented musician and songwriter last year is finally out. Figured I'd share, no big whoop. Overall I'd describe it as having a classic rock/roots influence. Here's the Spotify link but it's on all major streaming platforms, just search for Dave Osgood. https:/...

Re: Recommend me a wild delay pedal
The Avalanche Run by Earthquaker Devices is pretty fun, can do some crazy stuff if you get the expression pedal. There's a reverse delay option too. And reverb. And in stereo it sounds lush and wide.

Re: Limiter on rough mixes
Only if there are crazy transients, if not then I just normalize. I am not a commercial operation though so these recordings are just for me/bandmates. Could understand how those with clients have different needs.

I have a midiverb iv rack unit. Actually it has an intermittent issue if IIRC, works fine sometimes but not always. It's free if you pay shipping.

I've been away from the scene for a bit, but if Woolly Mammoth in Waltham is still operating I highly recommend talking to Dave Minehan there. He's great.

Re: New album; ambient soundscape etc.
Thank you for listening, Scott! My video producer friend happened to ask me the other day if I had any instrumental music he might use for inspiration. I think this stuff is crying out for visuals. I hope all is well with you in Southie.

New album; ambient soundscape etc.
Hi. Just wanted to share a link to something I recently released. It is somewhat conceptual, minimalistic, dreamlike...performed solely on guitar, lots of loops, and was recorded across several different media including cassette 4 track. Fans of Bill Laswell, Fripp, Eno, and the like might be intere...

I prefer to look at the waveform rather than listen. Just like when I mix!Gregg Juke wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2017 12:27 pmIt's not really a "watch' thing, guys, it's a "listen" thing.

Re: Mixing Tutorials and "Smart" EQ's
Any recommendations on good mixing tutorials?
I really like Dave Pensado's videos on mixing. There are tons at his website, pensadosplace.tv (I'm not affiliated).

forget meters. don't look at waveforms. use your ears. perceived loudness has more to do with mix balance/quality and eq than compression/limiting. Good advice. I realized this recently when I was listening to some stuff I recorded a while back and although the levels weren't all that hot, I found ...
