Sweet, thanks for the reply.

I see Mackie saying that the HRS120 reports accurate bass down to 19hz (which I'm kinda skeptical, but whatever), while the HRS150 only goes down to 20hz? How is this possible with a 15" cone as opposed to the HRS120's single 12" cone?

Mackie HRS150 opinions?

Hey folks, I've got a small techno recording studio in my house. I used to mix with just my Mackie HR824's, then a friend moved to Japan for a couple of years and left me his Tannoy PS-110 subwoofer. Well, now the friend is moving back to Canada, and I've come to the realization that I cannot (or wi...

2005 demo mp3's finished... rave techno

Holas, Just got the WAV back from my mastering guy in London this morning. I've chopped it up and encoded it, and now you can listen, if you're so inclined. I'll warn you straight up front, it's pounding 4/4 techno. This demo was recorded straight off gear (NO SOFTSYNTHS) into my legal copy of Ablet...

Re: Coffee Consumption!!!

Apparently the stimulant in mate is just as powerful as caffiene, without some of the side effects... some folks say it doesn't give you the jitters, but I've drank enough to get jittery, let me tell you. Much less so than coffee, anyway... Don't be fooled by companies marketing to health nuts. Gua...

Re: Coffee Consumption!!!

Oh, heh, and speaking of REM - if you start drinking mate regularly, watch out, 'cause your dreams get *insanely* vivid. :) Also, it definitely functions as some kind of purifier - if you've been good the night before, no worries, but if you were out drinking or eating pizza at midnight, it's not wi...

Re: Coffee Consumption!!!

Yerba mate, anyone? ...and I'm not talking about the shit in teabags, either. That's *not* how to drink mate! The proper way, you get a small cup, pack it nearly to the top with loose leaves, pour in hot (not boiling) water and use a straw with a filter to drink it. When you've drank all the water, ...

Re: George Foreman Grill Review

we have the older larger clamshell Foreman grill. it does work very well; my only complaint is that you cannot adjust the temperature at all!

so basically, you have your choice - you can have your steak well done, or not done.

sucks, 'cause I'm more of a 'rare' kinda guy...

Re: Lighting for the Studio

in my studio, I have two large skylights (studio is in a beautifully renovated attic, small but perfect for my needs), so plenty of light in the daytime. In fact, from about 9:30-9:45 am and 4:30-4:45 pm, I get the sun right in my fact. Kinda bad for that. At night, I have the place lit by a long-re...

Re: Favorite Video Game SONGS!!! (pre N64)

I gotta admit, I really got the above-ground song from Pokemon for the Gameboy stuck in my head. :) I've been ending every live set with the "death" and "game over" sounds from Super Mario Brothers for about a year now. Examples at http://mux.ca I'm currently working on a hard rave techno song based...

Re: MOTU hardware and PC anyone?

I'm a new user of a MOTU 828mkII, as of about two months ago. Compared to my M-Audio Quattro, it's *awesome* - I have yet to see a single glitch, it just worked right out of the box. AFAIK, all the problems with drivers and such stem from semi-unsupported firewire chipsets. It's not the easiest info...

mastering for pounding techno?

Holas, Second post. :) I've been writing and performing electronic dance music at raves and parties for about five years now (and performing in front of rock audiences for years before that), but word-of-mouth isn't exactly the fastest way to get popular. The next logical step is to get some of my m...
