No, phantom power is too much... I think it can only sustain (safely) like 3-5V.
Check out this for an idea of making a power supply...

Re: Wiring an el cheapo multimedia microphone
Those mics need to be powered.
They normally recieve this power from the mic input
Of a computer soundcard.
The TapeOp Omni DIY mic, is based on the same mic, basically...
You could mod this mic to include the power supply from that project.

Re: recommend to me a good, cheap omnidirectional microphone
my main concern is just getting a mic that i can just set there, and it will be able to pick up me and my acoustic from a couple of feet away without any real need for a gain increase. and i guess i'd like it to have a 1/4 inch jack, but i can just use an adapter, i suppose. i just want to record m...

Re: Tascam Portastudio 424 + Computer
Well... I had a go... Tried recording a kick drum using one mic running through my mixer and out to both the Porta and the Computer at the same time and recorded them both. I then dumped the Porta track onto the computer and sure enough, sync issues. I was able to get the first hit lined up, but aft...

Re: Tascam Portastudio 424 + Computer
Awesome thanks for the additional tips.
I've done very little in the analog world... Digital is so much faster.
So I need any tips I can get for using the Porta.
So please keep them coming.

Re: Tascam Portastudio 424 + Computer
So shall I try this?
424
Input 1 - Kick
Input 2 - Snare
Input 3 - OH Left
Input 4 - OH Right
Delta 44
Input 1 - Kick
And use the other 3 Delta inputs for anything else I choose...
Or might it be better to use the Delta for the OH mics for better clarity?

Re: Tascam Portastudio 424 + Computer
Cool... Thanks for the tip. I'd imagine 7 tracks would be fine for drums.. I usually only use 4... Well 5 mics but I group the overheads (I use three.) So usually I do... 1 - Kick 2 - Snare 3 - OH Left + OH Center 4 - OH Right + OH Center So having 3 Extra tracks would help a lot, I think. Looks fun...

Re: Tascam Portastudio 424 + Computer
uh...duh, he said he doesn't mind manually syncing the tracks afterward. I think this will work just fine for you, though your tracks will sound slightly different (though you may like that). If I were you, I'd use the 424 to record drums, but that's just me. Yeah I was intending on using the 424 o...

Tascam Portastudio 424 + Computer
I've got a Tascam Portastudio 424 - original version, and a Delta 44. What I'd like to do is this... Record to both the Tascam and the computer at the same time, For up to 8 tracks at once. Then tranfer the Tascam tracks to the computer. I don't mind manually syncing them up once on the computer... ...

Re: Newbie - have some questions
I suggest you try out a Behringer MXB1002?
I get excellent results with the pres.
And best of all? I got 5 pres for $100.
