I have one the first prosumer cd burners made, an early Tascam i bought around '97/'98. It WILL NOT burn cdrs that are labeled more than 16x. Even some 16x will not work. Any cdr's that are less than that work fine. You can buy 1x and 4x etc on e-bay for not too much $. I order them all the time wh...

I wouldn't get the Tascam. I have one that keep in the rack only to use it's converters and to mix down to (I mix OTB and its a good way to get 24 bit mixes.) I've been very happy since I limited how I use it and do my tracking in ProTools. The editing, etc. is WAY better than the MX. Even still, it...

While mixing a tune last week that has heavy trippy pedal steel I kept getting slapped in the face with 2 notes that didn't quite make the bend. I Autotuned them. Just those two. Told the player who thought it was way cool that I could do it. The songwriter was happy, and I remained sane throughout ...

I work as a behaviorist with people with disabilities, a lot of them having autism. I don't like it when people say "medication" is bad. The wrong medication for someone's issue is bad, the wrong dose of the right medicine is bad, the right dose of the right medicine can be very good. Can be. But e...

Whenever I get ANY problem with PT, I start by doing nothing. Then I restart the program. then I restart the computer... after that, toss the digi databases on EVERY mounted drive. then toss the prefs. That will usually handle like 59% of the problems that you are likely to experience. Beyond that,...

Access Violations are usually a symptom of some sort of hard drive related problem, but not necessarily a failure. I've recieved them when running PT and recording to the system drive. If you don't have 2 hard drives going, that may be the problem. I've also recieved that error when I have an extern...

Start a "rock 'n roll" spreadsheet to track what needs to be done on what song, mark things off as you complete them. take notes on it. If all members have a gmail account, you can upload it to google docs and all can view it. worked very well on the project i'm wrapping up. we also kept a log on go...

I'm not surpised that Autotune was causing the problem. You can try to reinstall it and see if it works. I've done that successfully on one of my rigs. Go ahead and delete all the files inside this folder, I keep the folder and just delete the files inside: C:\Documents and Settings\your directory\A...

it was deerhoof, and it was 3 systems running protools free. they would all hit the spacebars at the "same" time. hardly any way to make a Professional Recording i'm sure you'll agree. Agreed, but even if the result is not wholly "Professional" we must all note that it is at the very least "Competi...

Ok, this is really easy and it may fix your problem immediately. Even after doing this, as a matter of hard drive maintenance I'd still consider doing a complete fresh install of XP if it's been a while. The perferences are at C:\Documents and Settings\ your directory \Application Data\Digidesign Yo...

Have you tried trashing your preferences folders, restarting and relaunching PT? That seems to cure all kinds of goofy PT behaviours. What about other programs on the drive. Do they run smoothly? Do you need to defrag or wipe the drive and reinstall the OS? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalli...
