Re: Sounds that sound like other sounds

I came up with a... a... a SOMETHING listening to my windshield wipers in the rain. The ultra-high squeakings were making something line a minor third interval, back and forth, in odd time... hey, thanks Rob. The link there works. But heres a direct link : http://homepage.mac.com/wenzel.hellgren/.Pu...

If he can swing a Cornford for $500 to $600, I'll be very impressed.

"I've got a great idea! Let's overdub the vocalist a bunch of times on EVERY WORD THAT RHYMES!"

"That's brilliant! Our listeners are too stupid to notice rhymes!"

"Okay, Snoop, say 'chronic' into the mic. Say it again. Say it again. Say it..."

Re: Need New Guitar Amp: brutha's recommend!

The Carvin Nomad and the Laney VC30 are both pretty damn good, especially for the cash. Peavey Classic is also cool, but the Nomad is the exact same niche but better QC.

An old Bassman is a pretty good strategy, too.

Re: Best guitar amp for bass uses (Traynor or fender)?

I would suggest getting an actual bass amp. 45 watts isn't going to be enough to play live, though I'm sure it would sound great for recording, and guitar cabinets aren't generally the best for basses.

Re: What Did You Work On Today? 1-10-05

I wrote a song! Or, like, 80% of a song. Took something I was working on, spun it a little, finally got past my mental reservations about writing lyrics and wrote some that imntbho don't suck butt, and I'm putting the whole thing together. Got to tweak the chorus lyric slightly, formalize an easy ve...

Re: I need some new music to listen to...

The Wrens - The Meadowlands. This is one of my favorite albums, ever. It's basically pop-rock with depth, both in terms of emotional reach and musical complexity. They also have the most insanely awesome live show I've ever seen. TV On The Radio - Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes. Garage-techno-d...

Re: Opinions on Carvin gear

I only know about their guitars/basses and amps, which are insanely good stuff for the money. Most of their stuff is American made - all the electric guitars and basses and the thinline acoustics, and the mixers, power amps, and PA systems. The Cobalt series acoustics are made overseas. My main guit...

They should actually make a record called "A New Low."

Re: buttholes of the day; MONSTER CABLE

Wow, what a load of absolute bullshit. This is even worse than the Gibson/PRS fight, since there isn't two shits of relation between the companies they're suing, and nobody gives a shit about Monster cable who isn't in music anyhow.

Re: Click tracks again...

A click track is a tool. Nothing more, nothing less. Often something like that is necessary - for example, if you're tracking something one part at a time that lacks a defined rhythm track, or have to keep the band in sync with a loop or samples. In a full-band situation without loops, of course, yo...

Wing, your beats are fucking awesome.

(Are we allowed to say "fuck" on this board? If we're not, pretend I said something else. Like "frog.")

Also, whatever you're compressing them with sounds incredible.
