how about "WE NEVER CLOSE MIC ANYTHING". i have a lot of tbone produced records and i find this very hard to believe. the newer stuff (last few sam phillips ones he did, the krause/plant album... Think about it a second. When you say, "I never...", you're refering to your current MO. As is he. Prob...

I built the PC from the above link they had 3 years ago and it's still working great for PT. I'm ready to move up and do it again. Definately XP too.

I bought a used Alesis amp on eBay, the middle sized one, for my Mixcubes and it sounds great. It doesn't require a whole bunch of power to get the things happening. A Hafler would be great. 100 watts a side and you've got plenty of headroom for transients.

KennyLusk wrote:Yep, definitely a lot of hiss with the Kustom 200. I had one with a 3x15 cab and loved the tone for bass and guitar - it's a solid amp. A re-cap would help. certainly worth the $300 you paid my man. multi-effects run super clean thru those also.
I owned a 3-15 in the 70's... ROCK!!!

I don't know if it's a good deal or not but I do know they're bitchen amps. Give into the distortion and just crank it up. Bass is a wonderful thing through those. And, at least with the one I play through sometimes, the hiss doesn't come up with the volume?!?!? So turn it up!

Of course, but this is true of most mics and not a results of the cube shape.

ok. the mic is a square.
The lowest possible mode would be what? 4k? Could be a problem, assuming the bottom half is even open to the capsule. If not, the wire mesh doesn't constitute a barrier and would have almost 0 effect.

OK, Lee Knight. So, what do you think of the conversion? It sounds great. Very much like what it is in my API A2D. But... there are no external controls for switching between 44.1 and 48. It has word clock In and will follow a master between the 2. On a Digi 002 however, you're stuck at 48 (no cloc...

What indicates that these units might be any good. The Aphex site was significantly bereft of info on them. And I have had just as many underwhelming experiences with Aphex as I have had good ones. The obviously make good stuff, but they also have some mediocre units in their geneology. All great q...

I just bought the 142, 8 channel ADAT A/D. I track drums in a week and a half or so. I'll report back with my impressions.

Warren at Front End Audio helped me out nicely.

Take any delay and slap on an aux. Put an eq before the delay on the aux. HPF up to 300 or so and LPF down to 4k let's say. Bump it up at 800 to 1k. Route the aux back into itself via an aux send. The delay will deteriorate each time it repeats back onto itself due to the EQ. Add a tape saturation p...

I use Blumlein all the time. Drum Room -close or far Shaker and tamborine ODs - try moving the player left or right where you plan to mix him. For instance, if the hat is right, have the player step left so the shaker is opposite the hat in a organic way. Sound effects - try taking a ratchet wrench ...
