The Zoom H1 doesn't satisfy the omnidirectional mic requirement. The H2 does though. Maybe I'll look into that.

I checked with them. The only mic they have that's compatible with the iPhone is the Blue Mikey which has a cardioid polar pattern, not omnidirectional. Thank you though. Their customer service was very nice and prompt.

An omnidirectional mic might work. If it's good, I can probably bypass the mixer (and save space). Do you know of any decent omni mics that are made for the iPhone (or iPod)? I know the Blue Mikey is cardioid.

I don't really want it to be an interview per se, where it's I ask a question and they answer. If it was, I'd have no problem doing the pass-the-mic thing. I would want this to be more of a hangout/discussion thing. Keeping it as real as possible is a necessity and taking time to pass the mic back a...

multi-track recording for iPhone?

I would like to start recording podcasts on my iPhone while on tour with my band. I would like to interview other bands. For this I would need some sort of setup where I can record up to 4 channels (or more) at once. I'm assuming I would need a 4-channel mixer (maybe a cheap Eurorack) but does anyon...

Re: A New Low

I heard that TLC is going to be doing this on a reality show too.

This is not a joke. If I was going to joke I would have said why did the feminist cross the road? To suck my fucking cock.

Re: Need MIC suggestion for Glockenspiel

The one time I recorded a glock I used 2 Oktava 012s on the left and right, pointed towards the center, about a 18" above the bars and a Beta 57 in the center, slightly closer than the Oktavas. It sounded great...pretty much mixed itself. I didn't need to add any EQ or other effects either.

4-track to PC panning problem

I am attempting to put some 4-track recordings onto a PC. I have all my notes regarding volume and panning so I will be able to do the mixing in real time on the 4-track (while it's going to the computer). I'm going out of the 4-track (Tascam 424) into one channel on a Mackie 1604VLZPro into one cha...

Re: Oktava sale at GC?

not necessarily... i got both my 319 and my 2 012's from an independent store who agreed to match GC's price... that might have changed though, this was 2 years ago.

Re: ears sound wierd

That happens to me about once a year. I go the doctor and he sticks a giant seringe in my ear. I hold a container under it while he flushes it out. There's a golf ball in the cup after. I actually kind of look forward to it. Everything sounds hyper sonic for a day or two. I had this done once and y...

Re: Oktava sale at GC?

i like the 319 and it was my primary vocal mic until i purchased a rode k2 and a ksm44... i thought it was a great deal at $100. I'd pick one up for $70, although I HAVE heard that there are good ones and bad ones.. Depending on your state, you might be able to take home a couple and test them and p...

Yes, Steve Gorman is a great drummer. I think he's playing with the Stereophonics now. I lost track...

Re: jazz drumming question

Radiohead's "Dollars and Cents" is quite jazzy.. i wouldn't really consider Kid A to be under the heading of "jazz" but it sure was experimental... i agree with just letting the label of "jazz" die out. Any word that is supposed to describe both Sonny Sharrock and Kenny G is pretty worthless anyway....
