It's a prototype kit for his new line of drums he's starting. He wants to put samples on a cd & website so people can hear what his drums sou...

Re: Microphone Cords

The 20 ft kewi's are on sale at musicians friends for $29... . I've been doing drums & scratch tracks for a band over the last few days & since they paid me after day 1 I bought 3 of the kiwis. I replaced the OH's & kick cables (cheapies) with these thick devils... I wish I had em for day one. I NEE...

Re: Shure SM7 really low gain?

I use the old sm5 (early version of sm7) often for vox... yeah I usually have to crank the ua 610 pre all the way up. ...but it sounds great.

Re: anyone familiar with magnepan magneplanar speakers?

I had the maggies for a few years...I loved em. Other posters are correct..they shoot sound out the back so you have to be carefull about placement. I would often hear cymbals reflected off the wall if I was just a few ft out of the sweet spot. Took days to place them right in my place. If your room...

Re: Beta52?? any uses for them??

I used mine on a kick the other night. Just barely peeking in the hole & pointed up..but not at the beater..more towards the center of the shell. The kick was pretty dull & muffled with a pillow. I added my homemade speaker mic it came alive. I would have rather taken the pillow out but the drummer ...

Re: Here we go again: 610 vs. 2108

I've got a 2-610 & love it. It always gets used for overheads & on vox. Also great on gtr. Had a guy with a musicman bass go direct into the front of it the other day & we loved it. But I've also tried before & found it a little dull as a di with some basses/players. I haven't tried the 2108...but I...

studio colors..Your walls not your sounds

You guys have any thoughts on color psychology in the studio? Anyone have a red wall & find musicians get angry more often? Does green keep musicians mellow.. (smoking the green does..but thats a different story)..
They say Blue increases productivity.

any thoughts?

Re: Micing a kick drum with a speaker?

I mix mine with a beta 52.. I put my bare speaker on a gtr stand with small bungee cords stretching top & bottom to hold it. I think I'm gonna try mounting it in a milk crate for a little protection. The barrel attenuater thing is a good idea..I just ran over to gtr center..they didn't sell em & I c...
