Re: CLick Track question

Thanks Joel for taking the time to answer. I'm going to look into some of the suggestions throughout this thread. Thanks everyone. Especially the Farts idea. I never would've thought of that one.

Hammond XK-2 any good?

We seem to always want a B-3 for projects we record and the real B-3 w/ lez is of course the real shit but loads of money to have. Is the XK-2 something to consider as an alternative to the B-3? Any insight would be great.

CLick Track question

What is the best unit or device for making really good clicks. I don't mean a simple drum machine with KICK SNARE HI HAT 4/4 kind of shjt. I'm trying to imagine there is a better way to do clicks. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Re: Here we go again, Studio G Brooklyn updated gear list!

Yeah, your control room looks very cool and comfortable. Very Nice. Cool console as well. I especially like the art dual mp  Yeah we got one to. Hey you gotta start somewhere. We just got some cool Trident Pres and man they sound great. I'm on a pre kick right now, I can't get enough. Any sugge...

Oxford Mississippi Tweed Recording

Tweed Recording has been going since '96 and has recorded many bands in the area. One of the latest things we've done is an EP for Will Hoge. Five songs, 80 hours, five days. Man it was fun. Steve Earl go his hands on a copy and called us to say good things about it. That was pretty awesome. We are ...

What are good recording cymbals???

I want to believe that I could buy certain Crash, Hi Hats, Ride and so forth that would make the hours of recording drums go much better. I'm so sick of crappy sounding cymbals that I'm willing to buy the best out there no matter the cost. What are the best for recording. What brands? You can never ...

Re: Why do my masterlink mixes suck?

We at Tweed Recording have been using the ML for about 10 months now and haven't had any problems but the 24/96 conversion to 16/44.1 makes sense like the others are saying. I tend to use it more in the 16/44.1 so as to not have to render. Over all i like it better than a friggin' DAT recorder. I ha...

Re: Help me buy headphones for my studio!

Sony MDR 7506's are my fav's. All around they are comfortable for long use and they sound great. The click can always be a problem no matter what phones you use so the cure would be headphone volume and such. I'm sure you know that, but the 7506's are the way to go.

Re: Advice on buying some gear?

I don't care for the MXL things at all. If you can't afford the goods, then I'd just save your money and use some good ole 57's. Maybe thats crazy but not as crazy as waisting dough on cheap crap. Coles are about the best OH mics I've ever used but man they cost. http://www.atlasproaudio.com/coles40...

Re: Cymbal Glare

Man that is one the most frustrating aspects of recording the drum kit! My worst enemy is the friggin' hi hat on the snare mic. And these drummers...what do you do about these guys. Most of the bands I record are not pro but they think by coming into a good studio they're record is going to be the n...

Re: Anyone ever record electronic drums? How's it sound?

Hey well they're good for some things. Mostly if you don't want to disturb your neighbors. I recorded an album with my band in my apartment and our drummer had a set of the Roland and they did fine for the situation. If you got the extra money and you already have a good acoustic set then check them...

Re: Looking For A Recording Bass Amp/Eric Judy

As for the Modest Mouse question, I worked for Dennis Herring, the guy who produced the latest MM record, and I know he always uses the Flip Top B-15, mic'd with vintage U-87 into an 1176 or Fairchild to 2" tape to Radar to Pro Tools thru a Neve Desk. The studio is called Sweet Tea and it's in Oxfor...
