Seattlites experience with Folklife/Bumbershoot performing?

Hey, We have just received word we will be playing Folklife for sure, and are on the list for prospects for Bumbershoot. I personally have no experience with performing at either, but have attended. Any advice or suggestions about getting live recordings from either show? Do they allow the artists t...

All I own is a .22 pistol for target shooting (and occasional gang warfare), but I'll probably borrow a 12 gauge and .30-06 when I go record. I'm leaning towards trying a 57, and a number of shootable cheap/homemade speaker mics. Although, I do like the idea of using this as an excuse to buy a PR 4...

Which kinds of firearms are you planning to record? There are so many variables just based on the type of gun, caliber, grain of the round, etc. that can affect the mic's. For instance a MK-18 on semi auto has a shorter barrel than say an M-16 or M-14. So the attack is louder but shorter and may not...

I wish I had known about the mattress shortage on this board. I could have hooked yall up cheap. A hotel by my house was bought out of business and they were throwing out entire bedroom sets. I like the two mic approach, it sounds like it might be what I am looking for. So I give it shot, very nice....

I am going to pick up the e602 and the d6, test them against eachother, who ever wins lives. The other gets either returned or bunred on a stake. Probably returned.

Well I printed this thread off so I could try a few of these ideas out, I'll probably skip the Sweater/Underwear idea, just so I don't freak anyone out, might not go over so well with folks not prepared for that sort of thing. I have the old blanket/pillow technique in effect already, and did the fl...

Kick drum Mic Techniques

Anyone have any strange ideas on how to get better tones out of my kick? I am using a D-112 in the port of the front head, I was using it on the back head at a 45 degree and about 4" from the beater. I am wondering if it may be a good idea to try to put a different mic inside the kick? Anything diff...

There is a video on youtube with these guys performing on the rock truck at SXSW this last year. They roll right up on a beer garden and a bunch of people just ditch the band they are watching and check picket line and check the video out.

I have been getting some decent punch out of the kit now that I have ported the head. It's just missing that click fromt he beater hitting the head I like to hear. I thought about micing both sides at a cross axis to avoid phase canx. I will try the resonant head for sure. I haven't tried the tom mi...

http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/tn/2/6/0/224260.jpg Sennheiser evolution e902 is another I was looking at as well. It's a little cheaper but it doesn't seem to compare much with the AKG. I don't know, maybe I am just over thinking the whole thing and should just try some differe...

Yes that is the one. Any thoughts on whether it is a decent mic, or should I stick to my D-112? Or any thoughts on other techniques I ca use to get more of the attack from the kick? I am trying to clean it up so it doesn't sound so mudded up. I have some 57's and 58's (neither really I think should ...

The only rebuttle I could really have is that the truck, while not as streamline and well kept, has all of the gear with it, as well as a sound system, live board, and two plasma screens that are hooked up to cameras that show footage of the band as they play. Pretty much Jawesome, Yardcore, and swe...
