I actually really like those boards--for the right price, and 2500 is way too high. 750 is more in the ball park. They do not sound like PM 1000s, it is a transformerless ic based design. However, for the right price they pack a big bang. Inline, patchbay, direct outs, groups, and 3 band parametric....

I still use tape on every project that I do at my studio. 2" for tracking and 1/4" for mixing. Lets not forget the beauty of short delays. Mix it up. Short delays sometimes brite-sometimes not-can do so much in tandem with good reverbs.

Of course it sounds phasey in mono...Thats what youre doing to the signal. If you get a lot of requests for this--my quick and dirty would be to start using 2 mics on the source. Done.

Time aligning on a screen is weak-at best. Yes the point is to have out of phase information people-pick your battles-make it sound right....Every instrument youve ever heard had ambient out of phase information inevitably coupled with it. It helps. Learn to hear it. Make it your friend. Control it....

The easiest way to do this is to use 2 mics-One close, and one room. Phase em in together, and then blend to taste. Whats going on now has a lot to do with your settings.
