- Topic: Should I buy this board?

I actually really like those boards--for the right price, and 2500 is way too high. 750 is more in the ball park. They do not sound like PM 1000s, it is a transformerless ic based design. However, for the right price they pack a big bang. Inline, patchbay, direct outs, groups, and 3 band parametric....

I still use tape on every project that I do at my studio. 2" for tracking and 1/4" for mixing. How much Pro Tools is involved depends on the client, budget, and project needs. 2" 16 @ 15 ips is my preferred setup here at the moment, and I mix to the 1/4" at 15 with the Euro curve. I must say the new...

Stuff like that is the best...I dunno if it was a mistake per se, but last year on an album while punching in on a solo, I punched a little late and got a little tape smear on the first note...you know what I mean....Perfect....Brilliant...Could never replicate it that way again if I tried....In fac...

This is one of those where I cant give you a definitivem but rather, encourage you to keep moving the mic, and the kit-if necessary---youll get it. Start with just your overhead, with NO eq, compression, or fx... Thats gonna be your meat and potatos, so lets get it right initially. Try to actually vi...

Time aligning on a screen is weak-at best. Yes the point is to have out of phase information people-pick your battles-make it sound right....Every instrument youve ever heard had ambient out of phase information inevitably coupled with it. It helps. Learn to hear it. Make it your friend. Control it....

The easiest way to do this is to use 2 mics-One close, and one room. Phase em in together, and then blend to taste. Whats going on now has a lot to do with your settings. The compressor is probably attenuatng your louder parts(vocal) and boosting the tails as it releases and makes up gain--totally a...

2 things: A) Use more than one mic on the close end...Really. Phase em in. Line the diaphragms up right on each other. Run a 421 and an LDC. Meat. Sheen. Whatever. Try a few.. Two mics are better than one. B) Set up a 3rd dynamic...Run it into an fx box (delay and verb...experiment.), and run that o...

Lets not forget: COMPRESSION changes the character of a reverb algorithm SO much. With a laggy attack and fastish release that plate preset becomes a totally different animal. Not always right, but totally quick and easy....In the plug world, pop an RComp after that verb and make a cool aggresive op...

Its amazing how tuff one or 2 nicely placed mics can do to a drums set....If youre looking for aggresion-add some compression, and it gets real dirty real fast. Unless it was reamped, Ive never heard a direct gtr I liked.....Unless it was supposed to sound sh*tty. I wouldnt waste the track. I would ...
