Just writing to confirm that you can use the H4 with pretty much any multi-track software. I've used it with Sony Acid. I had some initial problems due to a USB conflict, called Samsontech support, and they helped me figure out the problem and fix it. Also, feel free to post any Zoom H4 questions at...

No streaming player in Firefox. I downloaded the first song, In the Mood. Wow, 320 kbs. You are serious about sound quality. First impression, I like it. I'm not big into pop, but this is more Indie-pop. Sort of Belle and Sebastian sounding. I like the doubled vocal. Acoustic guitar sounds good. I l...

Thanks for giving it a listen. I should mention this was recorded with a Studio Projects C1 into a TonePort UX2 into a Dell running Sony Acid Pro.

When the Night Turns Black: Like the synthy touch mixed with clean guitar riff; good intro. Nice mix, the vocals are intelligible. Good acoustic guitar sound. Basically, I like all the pieces of the puzzle. Nice job.

Sort of an REM sound to this, especially the chorus. I'm not crazy about that guitar (?) hit on 2 and 4. Makes it a little too bouncy. I like the rest of the mix and arrangement. Good vocals, really grabs the ear. Nice job.

I listened to Long Time. Hard to judge a song from a 32 kbs mono MP3, but what I'm hearing sounds good. Very pro mix and arrangement. A lot of passion in the vocals. The violin bit adds some nice spice.

I gave a listen to Southfork Luncheon Blues. Sort of a hurky jerky feel to this. I like the drunken train half off the tracks feel, it's like the whole thing is about to fall apart, but still hangs together. There's distortion at around 1:00 where the other vocal comes in for a few seconds. Overall,...

I like the slow opening, something many people shy away from these days. That said, it needs more variety in the intro before it hits the one minute mark. Change up the arpeggio perhaps. When the vocal comes in it's too quiet and the arpeggio too loud. Sort of a Rain Parade sound to this. To get to ...

(There's Only) Tears in this Canyon

Currently the top song on my soundclick page
I haven't been around in a while, but I'll be reviewing other people's songs today. I'd appreciate giving mine a listen. It's sort of a Johnny Cash folky type of song about love lost and trouble found.
Thanks.

Re: Panning...am I stupid?

Ooo, OOooo, I know this one. The pan knob is only really a pan knob when you're doing playback. When you record it should be zeroed. Each track is pretending it's either a left or right channel. Whichever it thinks it is, panning to that side will do nothing, panning to the other side will reduce th...

Re: learning to play guitar better... with $0

Many players don't think about the way they transition from one chord to another. With open chords there are often one or two fingers that either stay put in the chord change or just slide up or down. Look for these "anchors". Practice very possible change between two chords, and find the easy part ...

Re: can somebody explain this to me?

The real question is how long could you sing with the fake voice before your throat felt trashed. My guess is you are "over-controlling" your voice and using throat muscles to force the fake sound, and over time this will hurt your voice. If you sing with your natural voice in a relaxed manner it wo...

1) Consider filing a workers compensation claim. Call an attorney who specializes in that area. 2) Do these exercises http://www.orthohelp.com/exercts.htm They have helped me a lot, and I'm on a computer a large portion of the day. 3) The surgery helps some people, but I see a lot of people that sta...
