A buddy I play with has the mono eveolver, it's an amazing machine. I use dto have a Prophet 600, it's eerie how much some of the evolver patches are almost identical to it, except dare I say, better. Price tag does suck though. Oh well.

the easiest (and cheapest) way to start messing around with this is by using some piezo triggers from radioshack... there like 3 bucks or so pop and you can start to experiment and see what works without spending a ton of money first... im not sure the exact model number -- do some googlng and you ...
