Wow, the housing is really misleading - I feel like I just slept with a transvestite hooker.

Trodden, I'm not trying to belittle you, and I appreciate your first post. What I find interesting is that in that post you claimed that you had it modded - night and day difference - and now like it in front of a kit.. Good information, thanks. - But it's interesting that you respond to a statement...

useful, just have to find the use. I believe it was one of the newer (maybe 10 or 15 years old) Pink Panther movies where the inspector is struggling accross the desert when he see's a man on a camel and asks, "Excuse me, but do you know which way is south?" The man replies, "Yes!", and then contin...

I like it when I like something I wouldn't normally like. I know that makes sense in a senseless kinda way. It's the kind of production that inspires me because it's so far different than anything I do, and I really enjoyed the song. Can't complain about the mix one bit. I'm sure I could find things...

How close is your monitor (Not speaker monitors)? I think that's usually my problem. I hold my head up with my arm, kink my neck, and stare into a monitor 3 inches from my face for hours at a time.. ..And the energy drinks really amplify the effects in a bad way - after a rockstar and 6 hours of thi...

Re: YAY! Another overhead mic question!!! SDC with LDC soun

Something under $600-700 for a pair would be ideal. I play mostly Zildian A-customs, which tend to be bright. I like the "smoothness" of a LDC and how they seem to soften the high edge on my cymballs. My room isn't stellar and we do a lot of live tracking in the same room. The main thing I've notic...

Yes! I usually end the day with an 800mg motrin..

Oh, for a while a half a lortab was doing the trick, and doing it very very well - but I'm out now.. Damnit.

Sorry, one last TapeOp Ribbon Mic Thread

OK, now that the hype has died down it's a little easier to come up with a solid, unbiased opinion. I just pulled mine out again today, and I've still not found a great use for these things.. They're boxy sounding, I always wanna pull down the 300-500Hz region, but then most of the character is gone...

I didn't really clarify this, but the room I described above was effective because of it's structural independance and space from the outside walls. Had any part of the room been touching any of the pre-existing walls or ceiling it would have been almost useless. It's basically an antiechoic chamber...

OK, I'm truely missing something - that's all I'm saying about that... On the other hand, if it were up to me, I'd probably start with a PZM slammed into something pretty hard.. I didn't see a PZM on your list, but maybe a tube mic in the room slammed into an 1176 all buttons.. Maybe put your fatso ...

Could it be jitter? Does it seem consistent with any particular sounds or amplitudes? I don't think the test has enough data to pinpoint the cause, but it almost resembles jitter to my ears. I think if you could post something longer, maybe repeating a phrase, someone would stand a better chance at ...

I believe this is in the same topic.. I've used dbx 160 as a substitute for a DI on a few occasions. I've been completely aware that it's not supposed to sound good, but it works, and does a fine job. I've done it on guitars to later re-amp, and on bass. It's been a while, but as I recall, I don't t...

Before I bought my own house, I built a free standing room in my parents basement. The room was 20 X 20 with 6' 8" ceilings. There was at least a 1 foot gap between the room walls and the pre-existing walls, and slightly less between the roof and the ceiling. I couldn't afford insulation, so I used ...

Hi, Try to keep your quotes correct. I did not say what you quote me in that box... sorry. That's wierd. I was quoting 'Tones' who had you down for that - but I don't see that post anywhere.. Hmmm.. I think firesine is onto something. Decoding it to MS manually will still keep your vocals in one side, but MS minus center would do the trick. To do it manually, you would do something like this: Copy A (orginal) Copy B (swap channel's and invert both sides) (new L becomes old R inverted and...
