if you're on a Mac you need to set them both up as one Aggregate Device in the Audio/MIDI Setup Utility and then use that aggregate device in Cubase as your interface. Make sure their word clocks are sync'd with a BNC cable. Otherwise if you're on windows I can't help you but I'm sure someone else ...

Unplug the connection between the mixer/interface and the computer. If the hum is there then the issue is probably between the power connections of the mixer/interface and the speakers. this appears to be the source of the hum. i am using balanced cables so i suppose cutting the shield wire would b...

i cant really comment directly on what you have experienced, but maybe it has a lot to do with the way technology has changed things, or at least the perceived change that technology brings. The average kid today probably got into recording with some kind of home digital setup, and the options they ...

i feel kinda dumb having to ask this
but i need some help figuring out how to use 2 interfaces in conjunction with each other, specifically my 2 Firefaces into Cubase (SL v. 3.0). i figured just hook up SPDIF out of the 'slave' to the SPDIF in of the 'master' but that didnt seem to work. im guessing the actual connecting of the two uni...

It's nearly impossible to have a discussion about 'recording techniques' that does not involve 'gear talk', and vice versa.. true, but i dont think there's anything wrong with a little crosstalk. i wasnt a huge fan of the specialization of the boards when it happened, but I think its kind of cool n...

maybe try doubling but mix the double track pretty low so it doesnt have that classic 'doubled vocal' sound if that doesnt fit the music. maybe have the singer get right up on the mic to take advantage of some natural boost from the proximity effect. the right compressor might help a bit (old dbx 16...

Cut out the 'dreck' by finding the 'ugly spots' with a parametric... sweeping around with a narrow Q boosted way up until you find the ugly/noisy bits, and then cutting that frequency a bit. ive fooled around with this approach a little bit but it hasnt really clicked with me yet. is it better to d...

hehe cool song that you're doin 8) i love those moments when you just get back to basics, stick a mic in front of something and just play. i think with all the creative recording ideas that i get tempted to experiment with, its easy to lose track of the fact that you have to bring good stuff to the ...
