Hooking up a speaker with reverse polarity will not blow your amp, it just makes the signal 180 degrees out of phase. well, the speaker leads go to a subwoofer that (i think) has an active crossover thing going on. the bass amps are a marshall 3520 and a carvin pro bass 300. the receivers are cheap...

we do half a skootch. sometimes a quarter skootch. not really studio related, but one time after i played a show, a friend walked up to the stage and said that we played well but the sound guy had the mud knob up to 10. the soundman was standing right there, yelled something about shoving a mic stan...

yeah...independent study has confirmed the lack of an autoresize function.
