I've used to have that boot.. no vox,, but they do 3 or 4 takes of it.. kinda cool the same riff in the open tuning... another one of my favorites is the tune "take a while, think about it" from 'little games' (the last yardbirds release) the end solo on dazed/confused is pretty much the same... che...

flood the tape, of course.. but also watch the treble.. I remember an interview with Lou expressing his dislike for cymbals.. or high end in general..
Also, it was a jazz label that was recording zappa at the same time... focus on the midrange..and hack everything from 5k on up.

drumsound is right.. you can hear the other take throughout the song if you listen close for the reverb freq's.
and they managed to get the album out in late '69 as well... months before the great muting-leap-forward in 70.

if i remember, wasn't a 12-track scully mentioned somewhere in the liner notes for uncle meat? a 12 track in 68-69..? wild
anyways, I've always been interested in the verve/apostolic studios stuff.
