Re: Headphone mix suggestions?
I think I'm going with the art headamp because each channel can get its own stereo send, there's bass & treble controls, and the price is right. Anyone used one of these?

What format for deliverables?
The last time I worked in a commercial studio we were putting mixes on cassette tape and Sony Betamax digital. Most of my side work over the years has been delivered on cd.
Getting ready to open a studio. How do people expect mixes delivered these days? Download? Flash drive?

Headphone mix suggestions?
I'm going to need to get something to amplify headphones. I'm using a UA Apollo 8p for outputs,, and I currently have a 4 channel cheapo Behringer headphone amp, but I'd like to get an 8 channel one to use and use the Behri only when I need more. I see there are some with 'more me' options on each c...

Commercial studios: how do you charge?
Not necessarily what do you charge, but more along the lines of, is your hourly rate the same depending on who or what you're doing? Is there anything you charge for on top of the hourly rate? Do you do any 'per song' type charges? Are there pricing strategies that have worked or not worked for you?...

Re: 703 faced vs unfaced
It will be 4" panels set diagonally with more insulation behind them. I'm trying to make room treatments as portable and reusable as possible because I'm not sure how long I'll be in this room
The published specs show a pretty big difference between faced and unfaced for absorption.

703 faced vs unfaced
My local supplier only has faced 2" 703 in stock and unfaced will take a few weeks. I read that the faced stuff works better in corner traps in some cases. If I'm building 4" panels for corners could I sandwich two faced panels together or am I better to wait for the unfaced?

Re: Help me design my rooms
I was more thinking of using the mlv for windows. I've seen where people velcro it to the window frame. I think I'll just use a combination of drywall, plywood and fiberboard and a seal around the window. That will be much cheaper and removeable when I leave. What do yall think about these for the d...

Re: Help me design my rooms
Would it be good to get a roll of mass loaded vinyl for this project? Would it be useful in my door or window treatments or gobos compared to plywood or drywall? Would it be good in the attic for blocking sound? Or sandwiched with drywall or plywood...

Re: Help me design my rooms
Yes I'm going to find some heavy doors to put there and weather seal around them. I'm going to build a removable 'gobo' panel that fits into the door opening for when we're working. I may have to beef up that wall some too, but I'm trying to do as little permanent remodeling as I can.

Re: Help me design my rooms
I went back to the space to take another look. Wall is definitely not load bearing and electrical looks like its coming up from the floor rather than the ceiling. I think I can cut the wall at 48" high and leave the top half open. That 21x22 box in the corner is the chimney. Thats gotta stay, so the...

Thanks guys, I was planning on making room treatments portable as much as possible. I had forgotten about the Ox-good idea!
