Does anybody know where I can get a capstan belt for a Fostex model 80 1/4" 8 track machine? My deck won't go into "play" anymore (FF & REW work), so I suspect it may need a new capstan belt. Also, does anybody know if a belt from a Fostex R8 would work? I found a source online for that.

I use the RSM-5s, which are similar. They sound great, they sort of mellow out the cymbals in a nice way. I use them in a Blumlein configuration.
They sound really good on some guitar cabs, too.

Are you sure about the input impedance of the reverb tank? According to that page, the input impedance ranges from 10 ohms to 1925 ohms, depending on which version you have. You also say you have a big CRT - those can generate a lot of noise, depending on where they are placed, etc... Try turning the CRT off and see if the noise goes away. When I switched from a CRT to LCD display, it helped a lot.
