Re: Drummers Headphones?
FWIW I'm going to half take back my recommendation on those Alesis cans, depending on what exactly you're after. I have no experience with the Extreme Isolation EX-29 so take this w/ a grain of salt. I just A/B'd the Alesiseseseses with my daily driver Beyer DT 770 Pros. The general balance and uppe...

Re: Drummers Headphones?
Are the cables removable on the Alesis model? Nope. The connection seems durable enough that I don't foresee having any problem, that being said, I understand some dudes who actually record other people or gorillas might take pause. One could always splice the cable close to the cup and graft in a ...

Re: Drummers Headphones?
Yeah, the e-drum angle is just marketing. The Alesis cans are actually worth checking out only because their iso effectiveness is very good. I never used them for any e-kit, and the Rogers set is late '70s and loud. When I try playing with & without the cans it's pretty shocking how much they actual...

Re: Drummers Headphones?
https://www.alesis.com/products/view/drp100 The isolation on these is good (for my melon, yours may differ), they seal good and don't bleed. The sound quality isn't going to blow you away, but they don't sound half bad, they might be a little boring/less hi-fi/foo foo than Beyers or whatever pricey ...

Re: Does the DAW interface I want exist?
OP updating on the ESI U168XT interface. I've tracked a bunch of stuff since buying it a few months ago and it's performed well. It came with a EU style plug and while I could have used a travel adapter I had, I bought a US spec 2-pin C7 cable for the power supply (which was already US compatible). ...

Re: What amp are folks putting behind NS-10Ms?
Having used this exact combo myself, I can say the Bryston's made those monitors a lot more tolerable.

Re: Does the DAW interface I want exist?
Thomann is pretty much the Sweetwater of the EU so I'm not too worried. Anyway, the ESI U168 XT arrived today as promised - preliminary tests sound good. It's quiet and seems clean enough. I have to change over to a 1/4" snake, and I need a longer one (mine isn't long enough, TWSS) plus there are a ...

Re: New Waves Subscription model
That's kind of what I've forced myself to do instead of spend spend spend. There are some pretty decent freeware VST's out there and sometimes you just have to wring them out a bit more than usual. I also still use ancient stuff like the very first Quadrafuzz and some old SoundHack and DigitalFishph...

Re: Does the DAW interface I want exist?
I like those Tascam boxes, I had an older version for a minute trying to diagnose a problem that ended up being dying USB ports on a former laptop, so I had no reason to keep it at the time. The ADAT converter angle is definitely plan B or C at this point. There are a couple of stand alone boxes tha...

Re: New Waves Subscription model
I'm not too hip on this trend. I understand the need to make revenue/stay in business, but the approach just rubs the wrong way. I'm curious about the reasoning behind it, is it just driven by the accountants, consumer stupidity (everyone else is doing it, drool drool drool drool my payola) or is th...

Re: Does the DAW interface I want exist?
CONCLUSION: I spent a couple of days scoping out the Antelope Zen Studio and Studio+. I went as far as downloading their drivers and software (to see what they did), and I can say with some relative assurance I don't want any part of Antelope's horseshit. If it was just a matter of a using their dri...

Re: Does the DAW interface I want exist?
Has anyone used an Antelope Zen Studio+ ? This is a discontinued model, it has 12 preamps, and 8 extra inputs on a D-sub. I'm trying to confirm if all 20 inputs can be used at the same time. I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but I'm not 100% certain, Antelope's site isn't that great at presenting i...
