here's one not mentioned:
electro harmonix micro bass synthesizer pedal.
this has some killer square wave distortion capabilities on it. I believe you can mix in the dry signal and you can dial in the sub octave as well.
and of course it turns a bass into a micromoog....

I highly highly doubt that has effects on it....its all about the right mics in the right places. and a nice room. and a nice sounding/tuned kit. and a talented guy playing it (even tho he's a spaz).

saw 'em live too, many moons ago opening for Dinosaur Jr. (?!) MBV was the prime shoegazer band back then, they barely moved and were so frickin loud...I didn't really get into their whole trip at the time until a few years after the fact. but Loveless is a classic.....that whole night was 'loud ban...

as far as Gruhn goes, they're a great shop and have a fairly cool laidback staff....as time has passed though I find them a little bit over-rated and generally price-y. but they do have some damn fine instruments. if anyone buys from them, make sure you check out whatever you're getting thoroughly -...

there are some pretty authentic honky-tonks and general country/western sh*tholes down on Broadway mostly right across from the arena - not to be confused with the Titans stadium which is across the river (Gruhn Gtrs is on Broadway too)...that whole downtown area is also a big tourist trap, that's w...
