thanks guys, but Cubase or the DAW isn't the problem. it's being able to hear any dynamic panning we may automate. so the question still remains - are we correct in assuming that we need a 5.1 stream decoder/encoder device (like the boxes on the dolby website) inbetween the DAW output and our monito...

howdy, here's our situation. we are running cubase sx 2 with a layla 26/96 card (8 in/out). we need some sort of solution for 5.1 surround monitoring. cubase has 5.1 ability, so no worries there. right now I can route 6 outputs on 6 mono bussess from the DAW/cubase to our 5 speakers/sub individually...

if you're leaning towards NS-10s do yourself a favor and power them with a Bryston amp of some sort. yes, waaaay too much power and expen$ive, but really helps to get the most out of those things.
