How much does the Trident weigh - rather, how much extra to ship?
How old are the Langevins? That's a pants-creamer list of stuff for outreageously cheap.

Re: Advice on buying channel strip(s)...
You need the linkability for stereo, for sure. Why risk screwing up a bounce or stereo track just to save a couple hundred clams or rack space, right? You can always get a couple of phase-flip female to female thingys for cheap. I can't believe they'd even make a preamp without one, these days. if t...

Re: Building A Vocal Booth
if you use double pane windows (you should) with airspace between the panes, it's be good if one pane is tilted so there's no parallel surface (less wave transfer). Use as thick as is practical.

Re: difference between Shure PG57/58 and SM57/58?
Not sure, but I think the difference is tighter quality control on the sm series. yeah, like the difference between the '57's and the old Unidyne series...remember them? silver, shaped like a 57 but with an ON/OFF switch. i was told by a music merchant that the only diff was that they spent the ext...

To which the question stands:
So, to address the vast differentiation in user skill/budget/project complexity of the users of this forum, let me try to phrase this as universally as possible: Is it common or accepted practice to buy bomb-ass ADC with the superior built-in clock and use that clock as master for the whole system (...

Re: Control Room-less studios.
It was good enough for Daniel Lanois at Kingsway in New Orleans (U2, Pearl Jam, Jason Faulkner, REM, Blind Melon, Neville Bros, Emmylou Harris)... can't tell you how many grammies were won in that space. He later moved on to Cali an had an old theatre (El Teatro, coincidentally) set up the same way....

Re: So, the $1000 question....
A wordclock? You'll be surprised at how your stuff sounds that you alreasy recorded when listening thru it. Ebay one for about a grand. Or something more fun would be a killer pre (Neve/Api/Trident/Averill, etc). A single channel of any of that can be had for about a grand. Or a pair of Mackie or be...
