Seeking SF Bay Area Studio w/16-Trk, 1" Machine

Anyone? I've searched the boards as well as Endino's studio search database but no joy. I found one place called Burnt Ramen but their website doesn't really say anything about a studio. sg

Mr. Bill

Hi Justin. The tracks sound great. Is this thing actually available somewhere? ...or is Bill just selling 'em at shows?. sg

Tascam DM-24

I've moved my studio and now I'm selling one of my digital mixers? Tascam DM-24 This mixer has been a digital swiss army knife in my studio. 32x8x2 format, this unit has the 24 track/channel Firewire card and an 8 channel AD/DA card for expanded I/O. This mixer does not have the optional meter bridg...

One of my favorite projects on 2005!

The encoding seems to have taken a bit off the high end but you'll get the point. JW wasn't able to tour this band much in '05 since he's been on the road most of the time with Eric McFadden, so check out these hidden gems and catch the Downtown Apostles in 2006 if you get the opportunity. These tra...

Re: Mic Wall Panels

I know Markertek has them but their site is so hard to navigate
I totally agree- but they are a good source for your panels. If you're not in a hurry- order Markertek's paper catalog; it's much easier to navigate than the crappy website. [/quote]

Re: Headphone Mixing & Monitoring Set-ups

I like the Hear Back ...and the Furman HDS-6 . These units both allow the musician to adjust their own mixes. As a player and a producer- I know the benefits of these systems first-hand and really won't work in a studio that doesn't offer individual HP mixing. There are a few other brands out there ...

Re: digi 001 and tascam msr 24 SMPTE options?

I'm pretty sure that unit won't actually stripe SMPTE but I could be wrong. There are many units like this out there- I referred this one because I've used it first hand- and your initial post seemed to indicate that you were looking for a one-box idea. MOTU has made several versions of this box too...

Re: digi 001 and tascam msr 24 SMPTE options?

The M-Audio MIDISport 8x8 is one of my favorite products for SMPTE-to-MIDI work. This box will stripe your MSR-24 and your computer (MAC or PC) will read it via the 8x8. If your version of ProTools LE won't recognize the non-Digidesign MIDI ports- You could theoretically send a MIDI out from the MID...

Re: audio selector switches?

Anyway. . .i've heard nothing but bad things about that Samson C-control. It's a good thing in theory, but people say it sounds like you're running your whole mix through an expired can of tunafish. I don't own a C-Control- just seen 'em in project studios and they seemed adequate (I don't think th...

Re: Mini Clip on Drum Mics... Whats recomended? (Toms)

I couldn't watch this thread continue any more without mentioning my favorite combo- The Claw and the EV ND468's. I have tried most of the mics mentioned in this post and I keep coming back to these little mics. They pump a hot signal and they're really punchy.

Sneak Preview

Hi all- here's another piece from my wierd world of fusion experimentalists. Anyone who's ever recorded acoustic jazz instruments should understand the challenges that come with mic-ing and seperation when everyone's in the same room. But these wiseguys push the limits of an engineer's patience by p...

Re: Single-headed toms, 70s style?

First- Are they single-headed just because they don't have heads on the bottom AND they have the hardware to accomodate a bottom head? ...OR are they truly made to be single-headed toms w/no bottom hardware at all? If they were made to use bottom heads- then the existing hardware might rattle a litt...
