I just moved to LA (Silver LAke area) and I am looking for a studio assistant job, preferable part time.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: recording for fun or career.
I do it for fun,. My girlfriend is a singer songwriter, and I did her last record while we were still in school, and we decided to do her next record in our apartment. I'm hoping to actually get a small studio at some point though. Living, practincing, recording and modding gear in a one bedroom apa...

Re: HIT FACTORY NYC CALLS IT AN ERA......
I'd say these studios are closing _because_ of pop music today. When a big studio closes, it goes to show that a lot of mainstream music is created with keyboards, samplers and drum machines, the vocal done in some little booth at the producer's house. Who needs nice sounding rooms when you aren't r...

Re: A couple of questions about the Tascam TSR-8
I looked into getting an MRL tape, and I found this site:
http://www.usrecordingmedia.com/ancaltap1.html
They list two different tapes: IEC and NAB. What's the difference?
Has anyone seen them anywhere else for cheaper?
Thanks,
mike

Re: affordable reverb recommendations?
Never mind on that LXP-1 manual. I found it online:
http://classes.berklee.edu/mpe/pdf_file ... n_lxp1.pdf
They also have the LXP-5 and a bunch of other schematics:

Re: Favorite Albums of 2004
The Sam Phillips album is awesome. T-Bone Burnett produced it and Jay Belarose played drums on it. Now that I think about it, he played drums on the new Solomon Burke album and that was a great album as well. Burke is an old soul singer, and he did an album of covers like Tom Waits and Elvis Costell...

Re: affordable reverb recommendations?
All this talk of the LXP-1 made me go out and grab mine from the closet. I was able to get some amazing patches out of it int the past by using one of those midi librarian. I'm talking about spacerock/soundscape reverb here, not anything subtle. I can't remember the name of the program we used. Any ...

A couple of questions about the Tascam TSR-8
I was looking in the manual of the TSR-8 and I noticed that one of the accessories are LA-40 ( I believe the newer version is LA-40MK) which (to quote the manual) "makes it possible to connect 600-Ohm balanced +4dBm/-20dBm XLR type connectors or 3-conductor 1/4" phone jacks to -10dBV RCA jacks, or v...
