Pro Tools 7.1.1 on Intel iMac
I have found Pro Tools on the Intel iMac to be extremely fast and stable. I have a dual 1.8G processor and 2 gig of RAM, and the thing is screaming. Tons of plugins open, including many Pultec Bundle plugins on certain sessions, and not a hiccup or even one single spinning beach ball. The Pultecs us...

I just acquired one recently. I don't know how much better the "vintage" Memory Men are supposed to sound, but my new one rulez the school. It sounds awesome on piano. Eno must have used this combination, because whenever I put that thing on a piano, it's like Instant Eno. The Memory Man also works ...

Digi 002r Firewire bus defect
Hi all. My Digi002r apparently has a known defect, the one where the firewire connection gets lost and you hear a clicking inside the unit. I did a little googling but couldn't find any information about it... Do any of you know the procedure for getting the necessary replacement part from Digidesig...

I was very very suprised (not only at the superlux hat overhead) at the shimmer the SDC's gave my cymbals compared to the LDC's. http://www.aisd.net/crow/Conservation_Project.mp3 I've always preferred SDC's as overheads... I've never really owned any super-nice LDC's though. I love my pair of Shure...

Liquid Channel
What's everyone's reaction to this piece of gear? Worth the $3000? Does it sound reasonably close to the original pieces of gear it's emulating? Does it sound better than the plugin versions of said gear? Discuss.

Re: Inexpensive Clock Solution?
Thanks Joel. That's useful information to know, that a cheap clock won't really improve performance of a 002 very much. I won't sweat a word clock until I have some dough to spend.
The Universal Audio one looks pretty interesting. Anyone ever use that?[/i]

Inexpensive Clock Solution?
I'm looking for a decent word clock to run in conjunction with my Digi 002R. Any ideas? Something in the $400-500 range would be ideal. The Aardsync stuff seems prohibitively expensive.

Re: Pro Tools question
Could be a preferences issue. The Pro Tools preferences file on your external hard drive could be corrupted. I've had this happen to me. Delete your preferences file and try again-- PT should generate a new one.

Sytek pre vs. Apogee Minime
Hello TapeOppers. I'm about to make an investment in my little studio. Here's the recording gear we already have: Digi 002R G4 Powerbook 867 w/800MB RAM Avalon VT737sp Assorted mid-level mics (SM57's, Sennheiser 421, AKGC3000, Rode NTV) I'm planning on buying a piece of gear and have narrowed it dow...
