Renting Tape

Does anyone here rent 2" reels to their clients? The thought being that the tracks get bounced into pro tools at the end of the day.
What do you charge?
Thanks...

Re: Condensor Kick Drum

I've been getting great sounds with a Shure ksm44 at the front head and a Soundelux 95 (compressed) about 3-4 feet away waist high as a room/kit mic. A fet47, 421, with a little bit of an ns10 speaker mixed in is the best rock-n-roll I've heard.

Re: Orange Guitar Amps

I haven't used this amp, but I've heard their bass amps and they are great! I'm sure this amp sounds great, too..and it's looks like you could use an AC30 sounding amp.

Re: Upgrading overheads?

The Shure kms32's and the AT4033 work really well and are not too much$. I find the 32's more natural, but prefer the 4033 most often. If the OH mic's are sounding harsh from cymbal crashes, I'll ask the drummer not to them so hard. It almost always seems works. Like someone said earlier, good pre's...

Re: choosing an older analog board....

I have a Soundcraft 1600. It's been great for mixing out of Pro Tools.
You might want to consider one of these. It gives you so many options, and it sounds really good. (plus 24 mic pres, patchbay)
One just sold on ebay for about $2000.

Re: Looking for a nice vocal compressor

an 1176 is amazing, but i think the new ones are a complete dissapointment.
i've using a urei bl-40 the last couple of days and love it...it ads a good grit and soul.
also an adl 1000 is nice for vocals, you can find them for used about $800

Re: dbx 119

The DBX 119 is great. Sounds so cool smashing drums or as a buss mix...I got one a couple of years ago and still use it on most sessions.
It is noisey, but so is rock-n-roll.
