yamaha delays have really surprised me. the ud-stomp is the most intense delay pedal i've ever seen, and even that little purple magicstomp multi-effects processor has an EIGHT TAP DELAY inside. i've never even seen that in a plugin, and for $80 it's a no-brainer.

i'd like to draw everyone's attention to the fact that if you ACTUALLY want to test this thing -- for real, double blind, the works -- foobar includes an awesome tool for facilitating double blind audio tests. it's called the abx comparator and i think you have to select it during installation (the ...

here's how to get a great sound from a banjo:

start with a small room with lots of absorption
put a 57 an inch and a half from the bridge, angled about 45 degrees
smash the hell out of it with a hammer (don't worry, your 57 will be OK)

that cracking noise is VERY fulfilling

you could just embed a customized google search box at the top of the page which appends site:messageboard.tapeop.com at the end of the search term. i've seen this done elsewhere.

i need it to be small, as it's going to be used in a bedroom studio. i'm not rich, but the price isn't as much of a concern at the moment because i'm just scouting the market right now. i'm a little scared of those 24 and 32 channel guys because they can take over a small room very quickly. 16 chann...

smallish in-line format mixers?

i wouldn't pay much attention to this. using constant bitrates (think discrete, predictable numbers -- 96 kbps pumpkins track, 160 kbps al green, 128, 192, 320, etc) hasn't made sense since about 1998, and it pretty much indicates that whoever wrote that has no idea how to use lossy audio compressio...

Slightly off topic, but in the same ballpark: Did I fry the enclosure or did I fry the actual hard drive? Any guessers? thanks, Jim have you tried your friend's AC adapter again? otherwise, take the drive out and mount it internally to see if you can still acess it. i would strongly caution against...

Ever studied Indian music theory? it's been a long time since i studied the music theory behind raga form (and to be honest i'm still not sure whether i was mentally ready for it at the time) but isn't it the case that microtonal notes are usually used as embellishments, whereas rhythmically strong...
