cad m179. Very versitle, cheap, and not overly hyped at the high end. My cellist actully prefers it over some of my nicer LDC's. Sounds good on my reeds also. Very solid mic.

A really stupid impulse buy on appearance alone. It looks so cool but I know it won't sound worth shit.

An Audio Technica at3525 on each drum ($100 or less used on ebay) A set of overhead sdc's that you like and are affordable. This is my old set up. It still is now but with the addition of a rca bk-5 on the outside of the kick (at3525 on the pedal side) and an upgrade of some Josephsons as the overhe...

I am having central air put in this week or so, so the attic will be temperature managed. I dont think my bass clarinet, ghost board and outboard gear would be real fans of 103 degrees and 95% humidity for most of the summer in that attic. I would not want to play music in that kind of environment e...

Possibly a carpet or similar material. Something tells me a soft absorbing material would be better acoustically than sheetrock or drywall.

Insulate and wall question

I am turning my raw attic into a recording/playing space. I am going to have the walls insulted. The attic is your standard vaulted ceiling/church looking roof. In terms of acoustics, not soundproofing, would leaving the space raw with the inslution rolls exposed offer a better acoustic environment,...

Another way of seeing it is this. If you go to a store and they ring something up that is more than the advertised price, more than likely you will mention it so you get the correct price. However if they ring it up and it is below the price that it is supposed to be, would you mention that you are ...

Wait.... Now let me get this straight: 1) You bought a mic from a guy off Craigslist. 2) You think it's broken, because it sounds "horribly undefined." 3) You feel like you've been scammed and "jipped." (sic) 4) Rather than just bringing your mic to Guitar Center to compare, you'd prefer to 'buy' t...

Or, there is the Dick Cheney route.

Get the mic from Guitar Center, find out the one you got from Craigs List is bad, and return the defective one with all the new packaging!
