I'm 48 and I first listened to vinyl on a handed down Truetone portable turntable in the early 70's. Warm warm warm! Then as a teen ( mid-70's) I inherited the family stereo! It was a "Bradford" (panasonic) and it had two huge speaker cabs and it was all warm and analog and it was gooood. I got my f...

OPINIONS WANTED! Lexicon Omega Desktop Recording Studio
I just ordered a Lexicon Omega Desktop Recording Studio from Musician's Friend because hey are now selling for $199. I figure the software alone is worth that. I have a small home recording studio that I use to create music by myself. I lay down a drum track first, then bass and just go from there w...

Re: Groovespace on Maui
Believe it or not I've got my first recording session booked for this Sunday!! Record a few four-song-sets for a mirconesian trio. They need a demo CD. I've improved on the wall coverings...lol. That was so I could play the day I finished it. I've covered the walls with grass matts. It's a bi...

Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon
Alan Parsons
Heres the studio layout as written by Alan himself
Great engineering with some groovy effects for it's time. Consider that money, with it's in time cash drawer sample, was done with tape, not digital.
It will always be my fave.

Bass. Kick. More please. It's a loverly bass line and everbodoy is right. It would balance out that forehead tappin midrange. 3K down a little perhaps. More warmth.
Nice work.

Re: Here is some quickies.......
Hey those sound good. I do our bands engineering and bass playing so I can relate to the place it set it and go routine. The other night I did a live session that was hammering the red zone. I use Vegas on a laptop. So how many mics did you use on those? Nice crystal highs and a fat kick. Bass...

Here's a few more live songs from Maui. This is on a site I've put together to help network and showcase Maui bands and their music. Of course the easiest material to post right now is by my band, but what the hell I gotta start somewhere right?! If there's any Maui based musicians reading th...

Re: help....digital clicks/glitches on my recordings
I use a Mobilbe-Pre all the time with no drop outs on a 1.6ghz laptop with only 256 RAM. I record @ 44100-Hz 24-bit format and it sounds fine. I play bass in a band and we use this setup to record rehersals. Check the bit rate on the Mobile-Pre. Try lowering it. I have Audacity on an 800mhz/768 MB R...

Re: 2 tracks from Maui
Umm that was a live recording... hence the changeing levels.
Live is like that and I usually don't mess with it much. That's what makes it live!!
I've done some other setups where the vocals were miced separately etc. It did sound better, but this one was quick and dirty.

Here's one called Generation Blues
2 mics, 2 tracks LIVE into a laptop. Tweaked a bit in Vegas 4.0. Enjoy.
