Experiment with microphones. I found that they really make a difference on the tone of the upper rotor.

On my GL2200 they are post-insert pre-EQ.

I converted them to post-preamp pre-insert. Much more useful for recording.

Still have my 246. Great recorder as long as you don't use the internal mixer.

I have vintage amps, and I still get decent mileage out of my Vox Tonelab SE for gigging and recording. The SE is great in that it has many decent models of pedals, in fact I don't have ANY pedals in my arsenal. I use my own sounds, the factory presets are useless. Just today I was swapping tubes in...

You are referring to the original 901s. They reissued the later 921s which do not drift as bad..

And there's a report from Muff's that they have ALL sold out...

Ive been burned too many times, I'm not an easy sell. I wouldn't care if Behringer had acquired Neve.

You get what you pay for. Behringer has a history of poor product reliability and support. Retailers have stopped stocking them and will no longer take used Behringer gear on consignment. Used Behringer gear are nearly worthless on the trading sites. Repair shops have dropped authorized service of B...

Pretty much any modern opamp will work fine, just make sure you remove any frequency compensating caps on pins 1, 5, and 8. The TL07x is a popular opamp used in many audio gear.

If the snare and toms were close mic'd it would had been easier, for sure.

I can say that this is where the right compressors and reverb SHINE. I had a mix with wimpy drummer, the UREIs and Eventide 2016 were the keys to making that drum kit come alive. It really separates the men from the boys.

Drawmer DL231 compressor. Loved the way the log detector sounds on percussion, decided to get a second one. Took a little while but I finally found another. When I entered it in my inventory system, I found that the serial numbers on both DL231s were consecutive . Each were purchased at the same sto...

Many popular tube amp makers made rackmount tube amps. Marshall, Fender, Mesa Boogie... A friend had a Mesa Boogie 20-20 based on EL84s. While deceptively loud, it was too bright and not pleasant on the ears. I'm a keyboard player and I like the subtle warmth of tube power amps. I eventually settled...

I prefer Switchcraft XLR plugs but have grown to like Neutrik chassis sockets for DIY. The Neutrik fit a uniform hole regardless of gender, not the case with Switchcraft.

I have found that Neutrik plugs do not always mate with others. The chassis sockets are OK.
