ok, ok.. all good input. i've recorded the turntable without anything playing and without any eq whatsoever and the thump is still quite noticeable. it seems to be a very broad range of frequencies, as i've tried eq'ing just the thump and found that i'm losing way too many frequencies i need.. in an...

right on guys, thanks for the suggestions. i realize now i forgot to mention that my first attempt at correcting this problem involved buying longer cables so i could move the turntables far away from the harddrive. but to no avail. the phono preamp suggestion is right on. i know i am missing this b...

MPC 1000 USB failure...
I just got my MPC today and I already lost the connection somehow between my mac and the MPC via the usb port. It was working fine before, but now when I connect, the MPC doesn't show up on my mac. Anybody out there know anything about these damned things?

I just bought an MPC1000 today, and I already lost the USB hookup. When I go to connect, it no longer shows up on my mac. It used to, but no more... Anybody out there have one of these and have encountered this before
