Re: Chorus pedals...
Andy Summers is the god of chorus. So I have to ask what the hell is pop clean dream chorus? In the future it would be easier to get us all on the same page to mention an artist, a specific work, a specific song, the part of a song. I don't know if you're talking about Green Day or 'Insert fake band...

Re: Anyone know anything about dating Gibson SG's?
Gibson guitars can be very problematic for sn# date id. Just as guitar4lyfe said it could be a decade in difference based on the numbers. Your best bet is to talk to a specific vintage dealer. Here in St. Louis we have a good vintage guy by the name of Skip Goez at Goez Instrument Repair. This guy c...

Hey DIY people gyraf.dk
It has occurred to me some people here with the drug DIY in their veins (a horrible new street drug that makes you buy $200 in hi-fi audio parts and assemble non-functioning or malfunctioning rack monsters) do not know about Gyraf audio. Gyraf has schematics, pcbs, faceplate layouts, DIY inductor (s...

Re: live in the studio
I tracked a five piece recently all live. Kit with two mics behind a gobo. Two guitars with standard crap dynamics. Bass direct. Backing and lead vox in room. I charged $15 an hour minus any setup or breaks. From 7:15 to 11:20 I charged for 3 actual hours. They recorded 12 songs. All of these were c...

I have a set of Fairchild 662 preamps. I've tested a few of them and they pass signal. I am trying to decide to sell them or not. I don't know if I'm giving away a $50 Les Paul or chumping some one into an unsturdy bridge. I have been told these are similar to early Neve stuff (germanium and such). ...

Up at work I've got a Tascam 1/2" 8-track. It's tagged at $995.00 but the boss has latley been slashing prices. Give me a call at the Ron Busch Guitar Studio in Clayton, Mo (outside of St. Louis) (314) 725- 9558, or just check back here with more questions if you want. We also have a 16-track 1" Tas...

Re: What fx pedal would you like to see manufactured?
Thanks Rodgre on the Morely & Siegmund info. As for the Z. Vex thing I figure that's predated by some H&K boxes (Hughes & Kettner not Heckler & Kock, the machine gun makers). I've heard good things about the Z. Vex mini amp with tube pre and power amp. The H&K didn't sound right to me (read downrigh...

big ass tom sound/dual stereo
I've been recording some drums lately for my g-friend's rock cover band pro-bono. On the drums I've stuck to minimal micing being leary of the whole close-mic-every-last-fucking-thing-including-the-drummers-crotch aproach. It's always been a headache and never has sounded right. So lately I've tried...

Re: What fx pedal would you like to see manufactured?
I think Morley used to make a pedal that was a phaser but with the ability to control the phase shift with a continuos controller pedal like a wah. That'd be cool. Also, with all these 'subminiture tube' mic mods we've seen, why not try a subminiture tube based distortion pedal. I don't know how it'...
