Re: korg plastic

plastic, plastic, plastic! i don't care how they sound, they ooze lack of quality... many of these actually have plastic instrument inputs. can you believe korg would forgo a metal input jack to save a few cents per unit sold? fuck them and their cheese products. resting on their laurels. most mars...

for what it's worth, the backline company that i work for has a couple of stock (factory tubes) reissue JCM800's in rental stock and i've gotten unsolicited positive comments from a few players who request 800's on thier riders - i can't comment on the internal build quality or how they will hold up...

That is definitely a field coil speaker in the pix you posted. (I collect antique radios hehhe). Hmmmm...my first thought was to suggest yanking the output tubes from the amplifier to disable the drive to the speaker. BUT, that will likely cause the B+ voltage to soar. So, if you want to totally di...

Re: Live at Pompey

Live at Pompey is one of my favorite things Floyd ever did. To see those guys in their 20's and playing like that makes me squirm with envy. Has everyone seen that? Yeah, It's amazingly cool. The first time I saw it, back in 1994, I was completely blown away. +1 on that.... i had forgotten about it...

Thanks, dman. It's all true. Somebody told me the Maxcon is referred to as "the poor man's Neve," whatever that means. I do know that the mic pre's are great and the audio circuitry is top-notch. Still available! lol..... *everything* is supposed to be the "poor man's Neve" - that line has been use...

it's also worth noting that old Hammonds (B-3,C-3,A-100's and probably others) with worn front rails (the metal panel below each manual - primarily the top manual) are also a shock hazard unless there's an isolation transformer used. Hammonds do not have a ground, per se - it's somewhere around 60-7...

Re: who knows of someone who has died from electricity?

could also be broken solder joints, most likely where the insert jacks are - or the normalled portion of the jacks themselves are intermittent (i have seen this particular problem on Marshall JCM 900 amps). a thorough cleaning/inspection would be in order, you could nail down the question of the ins...

I'd rent, maybe buy a handful of crucial mics or processing. It's not just the cost of buying a system, because you're into transport, maintenance, and the ever-tricky problem of who ends up doing the most labor setting up and tearing down. Plus if the band breaks up, who owns what? there is a good...

Florida is not the bargain it used to be, especially south Florida..... homeowner's insurance has gotten completely out of hand (if you can get it at all), and property taxes thanks to years of unchecked real estate speculation has taken it's toll.

reverb units were an option for Pontiac and other GM cars from the early-mid 60's.... i had a buddy back in high school with a 1968 GTO convertible that had a factory radio w/ reverb.

that's a lot like my Series I, except mine was a 16 x 8 x 8 x 2 with 8 LED meters and a pair of VU's for the L/R bus. unlike yours, however, mine was the earlier model that had solid buss wire running through every module and consaequently it made maintenance a gigantic ball ache. also, the wiring N...
