I use the Pod X3Live in the studio and on stage and love it. I also have the Pod 2.0 which I use to use prior to the X3Live which is still good just not AS good. The X3Live feels real to me in it's responsiveness, and overall sound quality of the amps. And yes, +1 on ditching the presets and just st...

When I track live the spaces usually aren't big enough to accommodate drums and amps and still get clean signals so I have guitarists/bassists play through POD's and split the signal. One line into the 002 is "naked" unamped (to be used for reamping) and the other is the amp simulator in the POD's f...

I've been using a pair of M-Audio BX8-a's for about 3 years that I really like. To me they blew away other monitor's in that price range when I bought them. Haven't tested them against anything new to come out. But for the price the response is resonably flat (I used a SPL meter and frequency sweeps...

AKG Perception 420's and 170's on Drums

I recently tracked the drums and rhythm parts for my next EP. Same drummer, drum kit (new heads though obviously), room, position in room as our last EP. The only major change was in the mics/ mic position. I recently upgraded my mic closet and bought a pair of AKG Perception 420's and a pair of AKG...

I've yet to use it on drums, but I've recorded vocals through the POD X3 Live's mic input using the different preamp models, and really liked both the Neve and API emulations. I can't afford the real thing to compare how close it is to the real thing, but it's nice to have some different color choic...

I've had Shure's PG-6 Drum mic kit for about 4 years now and I'm pleased with the tones I get from them. It may be their "performance" (budget) level gear, but I've also used the equivalent SM versions of the mics to do recordings and in a good, dynamic rock mix there isn't a huge difference, if you...

I'm just looking to add back a little "splash" of excitement that's lost when tracking at 44.1 and for OTB processing of percussion/drum loops. Thanks for the reply, and thanks to John as well. I only do this on upsampled tracks as well, no need to on tracks recorded natively at 96k. I don't feel t...

I use the 204 when I upsample. For my Digi002 setup if I want to record more than 8 tracks at once it has to be at a 48k sample rate (002 + Octopre through lightpipe), and since I usually use about 12 tracks for drums, I record all basic rhythm at 48k, then I use Peak Pro's upsample algorithm to ups...

"To Catch The Predator"

New short film parody I made called "To Catch The Predator" I did a first edit on just the visual action in FCP6, then added music from "the Predator" and tightened edits to match the music, edited music to match the visual back and forth so the music fits almost as if 'scored' for this. The sound m...

I recieved a free download of the podfarm plug because I have the Pod X3Live which has to be plugged in USB for the plugin to work, but the X3Live is what does the processing supposedly so you don't tax your computer. It adds some nice functionality to what is already my fav piece of gear. The X3 ha...

I auditioned the Perception line when AKG brought it here to me at the store. They suck. I told them so. We don't carry them. Try before you buy. I appreciate the input, but would you mind being a little more specific. Are they muddy, not very sensitive, high noise, artifacts, anything like that? W...

AKG Perception 420

Does anybody have experience with the AKG Perception 420? I'm thinking of grabbing a pair while you can get the $50 dollar rebate on them (before 12/31) to use as drum overheads/room mics and replace the Shure PG81's I had been using. I know... all low end stuff, the PG81's work out real nice as ove...
