I have to say, Tim was great to deal with, and true to his word. Sent him the money order on Fri. He recieved it on Mon. and I had the comp at my door on Wed. Oh yeah, and this thing rocks!!!!!!!!!!!! Up and running this past weekend. Used it on a mono room mic for drums and all day today on vocals....

I love the Tab-Funkenwerk V71DI. Met Oliver at AES this year and after a 1/2 hour conversation I had to buy one. Just sounds soooo good.

Hey Joel Hamilton... NY-2A question?????

I hate to call you out like this but since you seem to be the resident expert and all and I made my purchase based a lot on what you've written here, I don't really feel so bad. I got a great deal on a brand new NY-2a. Hooked it up this morning and just ran a quick vocal and acoustic guitar through ...

Groove Tubes GT-66

Anyone know of any mods for this mic? I have one and I like the way it sounds but I wonder, can it be better? I would imagine that it could. Anybody out there ever mod this mic? Change the tube maybe? some better components? Something to the grill maybe?

Yes yes yes, hang on to the blasted thing - recently a friend of mine and I had a conversation along the lines of that in 10 years hipsters will be combing the internet looking for working versions of them so they can properly capture that "90's sound!" It will be worth a fortune! "What you didn't ...

That's funny. I didn't know anything about this box until about an hour ago. Just finished reading about 5 different reviews and it def. has my interest up. Sounds like something that might be worth looking into... Thanks

As I have not heard the TFTpro comp I can't comment on it. The review was good and it peaked my interest in it as well. As for the price range you can get pretty close to a drawmer 1969. Great as a bus comp. Also good for Vox plus it gets you two mic pres as well. Or another option would be to find...

What will you be using it for? Do you have other compressors? Do you need mono or stereo? Right now my list of compressors are as follows: FATSO which I use for tracking and and on my 2 buss at mixdown. A pair of Aphex 661's A DBX 160VU And older DBX166 Alesis 3630 with the black lion mod and 4 RNC...

Looking to buy a compressor

Hey guys... gonna be looking to spend some $$$$ on a compressor in the next couple of weeks. The TFPRO P38 looks pretty interesting to me. First heard about it in the gear review of tapeop. Does anyone have any experience with this thing? Do you recommend it? Anything else in that price range I shou...

Sam Ash is shit!!!! I wouldn't even grace them with the purchase of a single guitar pick. Such is my quest and desire to see them go out of buisness. GC is cool if you need something in a hurry that is pretty standard and stock like an SM57 or some cables. Every once in a while you find a cool piece...

SCA mic pre's... help

Well, help is a little extreme. They sound great and work fine. I just finished building 4-n72's and 4-a12's. Just did my first session with them. It's was a 5 pc. jazz recording of christmas songs. Drums, stand up bass, guitar, sax and trumpet. I know people here are always asking what these pre's ...

If you are using a computer, the TC Powercore is damn useful. I have a few outobard reverb units- a quadraverb, a midiverb 4, a microverb, a Yamaha R100; and since I got the Powercore, I haven't even turned them on. Very sculptable reverb and long, lush tails. No grainy hash unless you want it. The...

Effects units

After Christmas I'm going to be looking to buy a good effects unit. Right now I have a Lexicon MPX1, Yamaha SPX90, Alesis Quadraverb and a Line 6 delay modler. What are some opinions out there on some of the better effects units. I'm looking at a price ceiling of about $2000. I've heard good things ...

What made you go with the Jfet over the tube? A friend of mine has the tube and it sounds great. I went with the SCA because I wanted 8 pre's. The Hamptone stuff is great though. Nice job on yours as well.
