You know, I've only used the link feature a few times, for some reason it's not logical in my head. I figure it's better to just handle each track as it's own thing.. Jusy my opinion. I guess it's nice to have when I want it, but I wouldn't miss it. I haven't been happy using it on a whole mix eithe...

I just mentioned in another thread about a remedy I used for this recently. I recorded some 13" hats that were monsters in the left overhead, I miked the hats, as I always do, but I don't always use the track. This time I was able to use the hihat track to phase out some of the hats in the overhead....

^ That's strange, I've never really had a problem with it destroying the stereo image.. It seems logical that it could, but I use such a different chain on the overheads and room that they practically mix like different instruments. I often mic hihats and keep them hard left, and mic the ride panned...

This isn't going to be the typical tapeop recommendation. Congrats on your recent compressor purchase, I have a 2-1176, I love it to death. When I'm looking to get that squashy driven optical compressor sound from hell I use the compressors on my focusrite twin trak. I've heard other people get the ...

It helps to begin by putting every group of instruments on it's own sub group, especially guitars if there are lot's of tracks, as there always are in my recordings. Generally speaking - I like to start with the drum overheads and room mic first (wait for the rest of the drums), then I like to move ...

I've mainly been using my C414's for overheads, and they work nicely, but seriously, it's my Rode K2 (tube) in the room that makes the magic happen. I've used it for overheads, but it's just not the same. I'd highly, highly recommend a pair for any distance micing applications, the variable polar pa...

I like it a lot. Sounds really good. I would have done the drums a little differently - but that's just taste, I'm sure. Mainly the snare, I dunno, a gated verb (OK maybe that's kinda 90's), or maybe side-chain some white noise, or maybe even a re-amp job slammed hard into a comp.. That's just me, t...
