I agree with this one. Two nobs - volume and tone. Hard to mess up, and it can give you plenty of crunch for such a small amp.

I'm sorta where you are - I have been slowly aggregating gear.

One of my better investments has been the FMR Audio RNC (Really Nice Compressor). Easy to use and a discernible difference in recording quality right off the bat. And a bargain at $200.

If you compare TapeOp to Gearslutz or ProSoundWeb, this is a much better environment. Clearly, the ethos of TapeOp the magazine is to be illuminating, instructional and helpful. That vibe carries through here.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the problem with getting food crumbs all over the console. It's been many a moon since I last partook, but I used to eat everything in sight when I did. I can't imagine trying to mix with Dorito-covered fingers, or trying to listen critically while all that munchin...
