Another thing is the "Big Knob". Should I turn the volume up all the way? I read somewhere that you should turn keyboards up to about 3:00, should I do that with the drum machine? I have one and it puts out a lot of noise & hiss when the volume is way up. I generally run mine into the board and the...

On the topic of George, how about Taxman? Short and sweet but unique.

Also, they left off the solo from Steely Dan's "Rikki don't lose that number" by Jeff "Skunk" Baxter? I read somewhere that Jimmy Page thought that was the best solo of all time.

This guy sounds like a painter who you hire to paint your house, and he chooses magenta for your bedroom and then won't change it, citing your poor taste. What a douche.

I looked at your website - you don't have line-of-sight with the live room? How does that work out? Any complaints from the bands?

These are sort of minor: When I was in college I used to follow around a band called the Jack of Diamonds, and knew the band guys pretty well because my sister did PR for them. Andy King, the bass player, went on to be the bass player for the Hooters, and Dave Derr, the lead guitarist, went on to fo...

I agree with this one. Two nobs - volume and tone. Hard to mess up, and it can give you plenty of crunch for such a small amp.

If you want all the ins and outs, check out www.vsplanet.com and go to the message boards. It is all things Roland, but it is not a Roland site.

I'm sorta where you are - I have been slowly aggregating gear.

One of my better investments has been the FMR Audio RNC (Really Nice Compressor). Easy to use and a discernible difference in recording quality right off the bat. And a bargain at $200.

If you compare TapeOp to Gearslutz or ProSoundWeb, this is a much better environment. Clearly, the ethos of TapeOp the magazine is to be illuminating, instructional and helpful. That vibe carries through here.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the problem with getting food crumbs all over the console. It's been many a moon since I last partook, but I used to eat everything in sight when I did. I can't imagine trying to mix with Dorito-covered fingers, or trying to listen critically while all that munchin...

glad someone else here is obsessed with this one... Same here. While I am sure I had heard this song before, I never really noticed it until the Anthology DVDs, when George talks about the backwards guitar and how John came to "discover" that when he took tapes home and fed them through backwards. ...
