Just ignore me. I'm a bit brain dead today. Nice job on the article by the way Mike. To be honest though, I get conflicting feedback on this but your previous statement seems pretty clear !

I have the black one with yellow letters. It doesn't work and has been broken twice now. I really liked that saturated fuzz sound but I refuse to pay to fix it anymore. I want a green one. The muff to me is a good way to stay away from metal without compromising massive distortion.

The first time I actually heard about this was at one of the tape op weekend clinics. Also, I have had other studios in my area say the same thing. Just because someone is paying you for a service which is to record and provide a final "master" copy of the songs, doesn't mean they own the mix inform...

Personally, I think either going to recording school and self learning are both valid. That being said, some type of 'Training' is absolutely a must. I would think that the quickest way to get on your feet as an engineer is to both take the classroom training and at the same time run a small studio ...

OK. The tracks are fine. The hiccups occured during Summing (mixdown) and I have found that I am badly fragmented on both drives. Learning experience: defrag once a week at least. My real job is being an IT guy. I should have known.

Thanks all for your help and I did learn a lot!!

I have a Dell single proc. Pentium 3.6 with 512 RAM (I know its bad). My card is a Core 2 Lexicon and thus because its such an old card I'm on Windows 98 SE (really am sorry). I have 2 drives for OS and then data at 7200. The hicup I'm referring to is on the mixdown and playback, I get a sort of hic...

Question about current issue 49 - Mix Copyright

I'm new to this board coming from Harmony Central (ugghh and I'm sorry). I just had a major discussion there over the topic of mix copyright. According to what I read and what I heard (Jackpot Weekend workshop was very cool), the mixing work that is performed by a studio is the 'intellectual' works ...

Hicups in recording

I'm recording x number of mics simultaneious on my Dell which is a couple more than usual. I noticed on a session actual hickups on the record. I am predicting this to be a shortage on RAM memory and I could add more. Or ???
