Re: to rent out a home studio or not?
At only 19 you're way ahead of the game. Your rate is dependent on the city you live in. For example, in Los Angeles you'll have a hard time finding a rehearsal studio space for less than $15 per hour that's not totally trashed. Recording studios, even lo-budget at-home Digi 001 hard disk ones, cost...

Re: Mixing down from Tascam 388, etc.
I have a 388. I used it a bunch before getting it serviced/aligned by a pro facility... what a difference it made sonically. You don't need to tweak it when you take it from place to place. Have a pro service it, the alignment will last a while, just use 457 Quantegy tape and keep the transport & he...

Hey guys, I mean it. Lay off the pnut butter crap. You don't want Hillary to pull a EveAnna Manley on all of you!
She'd be entitled to do it, too!

Re: So anyways...
The last thing a "nice" studio with expensive gear and expensive hourly rates needs is a guy with access to a basement studio with decent gear and a low hourly rate. Whether intended or not, your own studio can probably give a client 75% or more of what the "nice" studio can give them sound-wise for...

Re: Tape, or not to tape... that is the question...
I agree with dwelle. 1/2" 8 track will give you more of what you're looking for from analog, but for the real deal analog you need a non-narrow-format machine. If I were you I'd hunt a little harder to find a 1" 8 track or 2" machine.

I'll be there, fresh off the plane from Southern Cali and tooling over in my rented crappy Kia or whatever.
Cut out the pnut butter business, Okay?
