Re: Capture 914 and 930 1/4" Tape -Anyone try this new tape
Is this or the lpr35 appropriate for my Fostex A8? Excuse the late response. RTM LPR35 is (*in my opinion) probably best for Fostex A8/R8 reel decks. RTM LPR35 (thinner 911) is closest to old Quantegy 457 and is easier for the Fostex's mechanicals to pull, less head wear. Never used Capture but RTM...

Bump for a 2012 LA beer night... (in Morgan Freeman's voiceover voice) "The LA beer night never did happen." As soon as the Coronavirus vaccine is available to all (not just first responders and high-risk individuals), scheduling a LA beer night/get-together is a must. Keep it in mind, everyone.

If you need another opinion on the Tascam MX2424 you could PM this guy named Larry Crane. As I remember, he had one of those in his recording studio quite a while back.

The mods are not expensive, but yes, I agree with you that the changes may not be all that noticeable.winky dinglehoffer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 10:36 pmEven by the blog's description, the change doesn't sound very dramatic at all. Are you sure it's worth it?

Sytek Mic Pre Improvements
atomiumamps has an interesting tumblr blog article about Sytek MPX-4Aii mic preamps and attempts to implement different op amps to improve performance. I'm thinking about sending one of mine in for Matt's mods... Link: https://atomiumamps.tumblr.com/post/187545197016/1999-sytek-mpx-4a-ii-mic-preamp-...

Re: Tascam 388 Muddy Recording
you need to use 90+ percent isopropyl alcohol. rubbing alcohol is too weak i believe. Definitely true about the alcohol strength. Use the highest you can find, like for wound cleaning (90+ percent or better). My understanding is that you should clean the tape path and all heads at the end of a sess...

Re: Garageband 10.3.2 Latency w/ M-Track 2x2
I use PC's, don't use Macs, don't use Garage Band. As Nick stated, if you are having latency issues, perhaps it is time to start using Logic Pro. For latency issues, this video may be of help: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=FLNdGMyFJM6MWO1NDXrCfoTw He's using an iPad but I would think that th...

Re: tracking headphones 2019 (for the performers)
I bought some inexpensive Monoprice headphones for tracking that sound pretty good, are quite inexpensive, hold tight, and have removable cables. https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=120&cp_id=12001&cs_id=1082302&p_id=8323&seq=1&format=2 I have a few pairs of the ones that Tony uses.
