Its a lack of public interest in music of quality that makes me question my role as cog in this particular machine. That sounds like a marketing problem!! Full time pro studios have thinned out, amateur recordists abound... I assume that is where the perceived lack of interest is? People like me _t...

I had a really manic time downstairs this past few days. Friday I decided to record the traditional hill country blues song "Shake 'em on Down" as a project for the weekend, it'll be great, I loove that song and can so rock it on my porch with the acoustic. Saturday I tried to get going by picking u...

Mix then Master

being just one person and charged with managing all of your 'gain structure' can be tricky! Keep your roles distinct... recordist, mixer, masterer... Are your performances good enough that you could edit by sections, adjusting volumes on clips as you go, to get your rhythm tracks right? I would hope...

There are a few issues listed on ebay now, you could set up an automated search there to email you when the right issues go on sale and then perhaps arrange with the seller to photograph and send the relevant pages via email if the cost of the issue plus shipping is prohibitive.

I'm sure there have been wonderful drum sounds tracked with three mics but keep in mind you could run however many mics through another mixer and then send that output, say a stereo output, to the fostex. Might as well commit live and save the bounce.

I have a DL1608 and don't find using a lightning connector adapter a problem. I have enjoyed the awesomeness of having a stage manager dial in a monitor mix on their own wifi device. I don't have a great ear, yet, but the sound seems fine to me. Less feedback problems than I've had with my larger On...

To be fair, the FULL price of Logic X is a lot cheaper than the UPGRADE price used to be, so even with Apple obviously discontinuing "upgrade" pricing, we're still all coming out well ahead. Same goes for FCP. I agree we are coming out well ahead, PDFs of the good documentation work on my iPad very...

Crazy sure, resistance IS futile... If you can't afford the time or dollars to upgrade your plugs to 64 bits which I think Logic X requires and is why you are worried about them, or those plugs have discontinued, then if you can find some disks Logic 9 should work. And, depending on your cash flow n...

Re: Calibrating system and monitors

And is other mastered professionally recorded material always blaringly louder than when I am working in my software? Mastering sure does loud tracks up but I am guessing that you may not be normalizing your mixes before comparing to others and that the two together explain the difference. If I'm r...

Just in case you have an ipad or other touch tablet and have not spent the $5 or whatever it is to get a controller interface app for pro tools you should check that out. I love Logic Remote because I can cue and hit record when I'm sitting at the drums etc..

Thanks for listening Ampguy! Yes it is supposed to be more of a hypno-blues than a busy blues... I was echo'ing the other guitar player on a few times through. Hopefully I'll produce this song as a multi-player piece further, either re-recording or since I have this live rehearsal tracked in with di...
