I worked at a place that ordered two of his C12 clones and they were wired out of phase. The badge on the Cm7 also fell off. Some of the small details on the PEQ1 modules would sometimes be off, too. I'm not sure I'd drop six figures on a console like that. I think Mike is a great guy, but he was a...

Tapco 6 channel... can't remember model number. Lo-fi spring reverb. Can use it as a nice vocal effect with punk rock singers.

It used to be my front end for my 4 track cassette back in the day.

Rode NTK mics as overheads. I don't know if thats common or not. I used a pair out of necessity and they sounded great! The NTK can also be a great bright snare mic, but a bit difficult to place. You can get a nice punchy distorted, kinda tinny snare sound. Unique, but cool.

I have one and use it regularly for recording voice overs in my house. It works great for making a "dead" vocal sound. It will not keep out unwanted AC or computer fan noise. It was a bit tricky to setup at first, but has been rock solid and I can now set it up in a couple of minutes with my cheapo ...

The Roland U220 has a decent, non-distracting piano. You can usually find them for around $100 bucks.

Luckily almost all of my clients really want to save their sessions. I tell them exactly what hard drive to buy and where to buy it. I'll save their session on a portable drive as their "master," and I'll burn a DVD backup that I will keep. I tell them it is best to make yet another backup, and if t...

This is the best tool I've used for recording myself. It's even better than my old Otari remote because it's wireless, tiny, and it has the ability to adjust levels.

I got it at guitar center for $179.

Whisper Room

Yeah... I used a whisper room for a couple of years. We used to joke that the only sound that it could keep out of the booth was a whisper. It was cramped, ugly, and had bad ventilation. The talent always hated it.

The pres are great and the eq is really cool, as everybody has said. It doesn't sound that good when mixing down though. It's great for tracking, but I usually dump the taped tracks into protools rather than mix them through the MW board. It's analog summing is kinda weak.

Yeah... great interview. The Bomb Squad was a huge influence when I first started recording. The textures, and complex sampling still blows my mind. It's great to read how it all went down with them recording together. Definitely one of the all-time great articles.

As long as you ripped the 24 track machine to Logic using the same smpte time track, then you should be good.

Just make sure to have Logic use ADC if you plan on using some plugins.

I think the hd core cards are still going for 5-6k used. They are much more expensive than the process cards.
